The in-game help (question mark icon) takes you to an index, from which you can navigate to a full list of spells. The descriptions are extended, and mostly accurate (much more detailed than the descriptions in the manual). None of the counterspell (Dispell Magic, Calm Emotions, Remove Fear, Invisibility Purge) actually work, as far as I can tell. It's not BG2.
I like this site, for all things 3.5, but as just noted, with ToEE, milage may vary. http://d20srd.org/index.htm
Hmm. From the description the game gives of the ready-counterspell action in the radial menu, I got the idea I could counter just about any offensive spell and the counterspell would not necessarily need to be a logical antithesis. For example, Sound Burst would not be the only spell that could counter Silence. Apparently I was mistaken. I knew about the in-game list accessible by pressing H, but the descriptions don't mention counterspells--at least not for the spells that I checked. Nor does the site mentioned by Lord Plothos. Nevertheless, thank you both for your replies. -_-
Ah. I see what you mean. From the site above: In ToEE, you're better off casting an offensive spell. Many of the serious spell casters are using items rather than casting, or casting out of your view, so readying vs spell will often just waste an action. However, if you want to Counterspell, take the Improved Counterspell feat: It still probably won't work that often, but it'll be cool if it does.
Wow, i know it is an old post but I did not know that. For me extremly helpful since I just wanted to go for a druid solo play and couldn't find a complete list of druid spells for ToEE. And to my surprise: It's all in the game already. I think this link would be very helpful in the walkthrough.
Usually when I try to counter a spell, I'll use the 'Ready vs Spell' option then launch Magic Missiles- even if it doesn't disrupt the spell I can still get in some damage that might kill the spell castor...
