What's up with the IRC?

    I've been trying to connect to the IRC over the past week but was hardly able to do it even once. All I get is the connection message "Connecting to irc.enterthegame.com (6667)", then I wait for connection for about a minute, and then I get the "Unable to connect to the server" message... This keeps happening every day and every time I try to connect. I'm wondering if the IRC is dead or it's just undergoing some massive overhaul?...

    I've had that twice when I try to connect but all other occations I've tryed its worked.

    Hmm, I just double checked and it never ever works for me, no matter how hard I try... :( Any suggestions, guys?

    I had problems with the IRC that one day last week, but it's worked for just fine since then. :shrug:

    It's easy, Ag. Simply follow the Co8 20 step preferred method for correcting IRC problems:

    1. Uninstall ToEE
    2. Reboot
    3. Remove ToEE registry entries
    4. Reboot
    5. Install dot.net 2.0
    6. Reboot
    7. Install ToEE
    8. Reboot
    9. Install Atari 2
    10. Reboot
    11. Install Co8 5.0.0
    12. Reboot
    13. Install Co8 5.0.2
    14. Reboot
    15. Install Portrait & Voice Packs
    16. Reboot
    17. Reboot again
    18. Reboot a third time
    19. Try to connect to IRC and fail
    20. Enjoy another day of IRC-free existence

    Note that this process is unlikely to help you in any way. Good luck! :dance: :poke: :biggergri

    [edit] Almost forgot - as preliminary steps, you may want to first defrag your hard drive; second reformat your hard drive; and third remove and re-install your operating system. These steps are sure to do nothing to help your situation either. :joy: :grin:

    Clear the Recycle bin after each step, or your just wasting your time.

    Gaear I'm so disapointed. You completely forgot to mention removing then recreating hard drive partitions. Geez. :eyebrow:

    @Agetian: On a more serious note it's hard to tell. You haven't upgraded your firewall or anything recently have you? Can you connect to other IRC chanels?

    Well, I believe Gaear's trick is not going to help because I can't connect from my friend's PC either. I haven't upgraded the firewall or anything. I do have a firewall but I lived with it for the last year and it caused me no troubles. Anyway, I can go online to other IRC channels if I want to. Maybe there's some other way to get to the IRC (other than irc.enterthegame.com:6667)?..

    Did you try the Java chat option? AFAIK Sol Invictus is the only one who has the ability to mess around with the IRC room settings, and he hasn't been around for about a month now. :(

    Nope, it's no use, the JavaChat doesn't work either. I get the following when I try to connect:

    Connecting...
    Logging in...
    Disconnected from irc.enterthegame.com

    I don't know what's wrong. I double checked for all kinds of weird stuff and found out I have no spyware, viruses, and other malware that may hinder the connection, as well as my firewall settings are all OK. I don't know what's wrong. Anyway, it looks like it's bye bye IRC for me.

    On a side note, where's Sol btw?

    Well in my trillian preferences for the IRC room I have...

    Co8 (Via IRC)
    irc.enterthegame.com::6667-6669
    and the 3 variations of my login name.

    And I can connect just fine.

    I think I may have some insite, some times when it wont connect for me then it switches me to a different server, but if it doesn't want to swap servers then sometimes I can't get in.
