Url to get Co8 is wrong and is Partch2 work on a non US version?

Hi all, totally newbie here.

I tried get Co8 version 5 but the url is wrong : http://files.co8.org/mods/Circle_of_Eight_Mod_Pack_5.0.0_Final.exe

Also I have a non US version of ToE so no patch 2 for this version. Can I apply the US patch 2? Plus if I can then will Co8 will work on this? If I can't is there any other solution to get Co8 working on my version?

 

Ha well the url just worked, well, yes I tried many times before posting Ha well good for this point but the other questions still apply.

 

It should work. But be aware that you may have some strange results if you have a localised version of the game - the dialogue files will be in English for instance.

 

Thanks for the answer, yes in the original game all text are translated.

I tried, I couldn't apply the Atari patch1 it says it can't find an English version. I tried the patch2 and it run. After this patch, when I launch and quit it gaves the same error than with the unofficial patch I found. I haven't played a lot with this patch2 but I quote that dialogues seem all translated but not everything elsewhere. I applied Co8 then I haven't seen yet any non English text but I quote few minor anomaly like no quest text for the Ogre/Orc Cave, no text for one spell description in the help but I think I noticed that too in the original translated version.

After to have applied Co8 I still had the error after quitting but now it has disappeared. In my current game, I hope not bugged, I have a systematic crash with one dialogue option of the barkeeper wife, I have it only with one char, a female druid half-orc.

I also quoted a spell long range problem, close range spells that suddenly become long range. But I quoted the same problem with my original game without any patch. In my current game with Co8 I haven't seen it yet but seen it in a previous lost Iron game. It's a quite boring bug because it gives you a dramatic advantage.

 

You only need patch 1 if you cannot install patch 2 on its own. So don't worry about that

I will check the Orc Cave quest text. Which spell is missing a description?

I will check the innkeeper's wife dialogue to see if there is anything there which will cause a bug. As you are online now, could you tell me what option causes the crash?

The spell bug is one I have never seen - let us know if it happens with Co8 patch applied

Don't use ironman mode - ever Instead play like you are using ironman mode (no reloading saves unless your game crashes) but save often! - edit: just read your other post, you know that already so apologies :coffee:

 

Cough cough people that doesn't write a right english like me don't make a good bug support. If you work/worked on this Co8, let me thank you (an all) before continue.

Let try anyway :
- I am using Co8 5.0.0
- It's patch1 that didn't worked. Patch1 refuse to run because it shows a dialogue "can't find a ToEE English" or something like that. Patch2 worked.
- The quest empty text is a very big bug, it's certainly because of of US patch on a non US version of the game. When I talk to the guy in the big house with a stone wall around the garden, during dialogues I get an option to learn adventuring opportunity. Then it says me there's Orc nearby (or Ogres?) and I accept check them. Then a new location "Ogre Cave" appears on world map, a new entry appear in the log but to title, not text description, only the date.
- For the dialog crash, it's in inn, the wife, and only with a Female orc druid char, it's the first option in the dialog, "me want beer" (or something similar). It's an option that worked well with a male orc, one of the default char, in my previous game which was an Iron one.
- For the spell with no description through "?" click on the spell, it's charm animal, yes I have the same problem with Co8 applied. I think it's the same spell that had problem without any patch.
- As I am in bug report, there's a woman in the house of the chief of the guards, in the original game she doesn't have any dialogue but you can talk her and get her name and a short sentence, now she says nothing and I never get her name. Ok I don't care.
- Finally like I mentioned in another thread, it's a bug I had with no patch and still have with Pathc2+Co8 5.0.0 : Sometimes touch spells can become long range and that last a long time, sometimes I see them come back to normal.

If I can understand you, then everyone here can - I have trouble reading English at times We're a multinational community so 'bad English' statements aren't needed

Don't worry about this. If you have Atari Patch 2 installed ok, you do not need Atari Patch 1.

I'll check this and fix if needed. I can't figure out how your translated version would affect this as this quest has been added by Co8, and your game is running Co8. Could be a 'bug' in all languages but I'll check

Have you installed Desperate Housewives (you get the option to do this when first installing Co8)? I'm guessing not and wondering if this may be a side effect?

I say 'I'll check' a lot in this post because you do not say you have installed the Cumulative Mod Fixpack (CMF) and so I need to just check to see if these are bugs which have been fixed already by CMF

 

Well I see, strange anyway it's not been reported. I got this bug in the 2 games I played with Co8.

I don't remember any option when I installed Co8 5.0.0!! I just clicked "Ok" without to read anything as I always do with any modal dialogue!!! More seriously eventually I din't read with care the install dialogue or forget it, I probably used the default.

Ok but I doubt this hadn't been reported by anyone, the bug gives a very big advantage.

If it's safer to install CMF I could install it, at least once I have finished my current game or if CMF is also ok with games saved before CMF.

Whenever you apply a CMF to a ToEE game patched with a Co8 MOD, you should plan on archiving your saved games as old saves to a new folder, zip or rar file with a reference to the old build number and start a new game for the new patched build of your game.

Ok, I had a quick check on some of the bugs you mention and this is what I've found:

Orc Season quest not showing any text.

This does not seem to be a problem in my install. The text should be "Hommlet town elder Kenter Nevets has asked you to look into rumors of some marauding orcs." The dialogue with Kenter also looks fine - no problem that I can see there.
Perhaps installing the CMF might solve this problem?

Yup - good bug spotting There was a mistake there which affected low Intelligence characters - fix will be posted in CMF thread very shortly.

 

That bug was present in one of the older releases Zeb.
I remember it was fixed with 5.0.2... or was it 5.0.3?

 

Odd. My .dlg files for her are 5.04 and the bug is still present (line 5 of her dialogue references line 10 which is another PC response line).

What about this spell thing? I wouldn't have a clue about rules stuff and what's a touch spell and when it becomes long range...

Finish your current game. Then play again with CMF
