    How come we can't pick up her katanas after she heroically dies in battle?

    You can pick them up only if she drops them.
    Using sound burst will do the trick, but afterwards you can drop them so have the correct character pick them up

    They are really overkill with a high level fighter

    She is dead and I can't pick them up. Shouldn't being dead count as dropping?

    the swords are not meant to be used by a character as they are +4 to hit.
