Some may have seen that despite my modding noobery, I'm forging ahead with a new module.

one issue i haven't been able to solve with tutorials or threads is failure of .tga files to render in the module:

You can see Timur's leather scale armor and red padded boots arent rendering. On the other hand, Timur's composite shortbow renders fine.

I checked and both these items are listed in inventory.mes. I used the specific slots in the proto for these items, and Timur's inventory shows he is actually wearing his scale leather armor. However, neither the armor nor the boots are rendering in the inventory view, either:

I've played ToEE/KotB/PalCo many times on this computer, using these settings, and never had this problem. So its not my option settings.

I have more, .tga questions, but will save for later as I'm hesitant to create more npcs until this is solved.

When you saved the .tga were there options? If so, what did you pick?

I know when I save them, the editor I use asks if I want to use compression. Maybe you picked compressed, and ToEE only supports uncompressed. There's also a choice for origin, and ToEE might only support one of those.

So I solved half the mystery: the leather scale icon .tga was in the art folder, but NOT listed in inventory.mes. I added it, it now it renders in the inventory screen.
To get it to render on the body, Im assuming I need to find the mesh equivalent of inventory.mes? Will look.

Im thinking this is because these items, unlike regular scale mail and black boots, were added in new content? because I'm looking at NC in my root ToEE folder, but TFE-X activates the game using standard content folders (I think). SO if I want to use NC protos, I need to add the files into my modding folder and let TFE-X transfer them when it activates the module. Yes?

The other place was in materials.mes. All good with these.

My next issue concerns portrait packs, but I suspect it is similar NC files that need to be copied into the modding folder.

    Kriegdoom has gained xp: 500.
    Kriegdoom has gained a level.

Update: the red padded boots will still not render in the inventory.

I've noticed the Item Inventory Icon number in TOEEWB does not match inventory.mes.

Changing inventory.mes to match the number in the proto does not work.

I am hesitant to change the Icon number in the proto because I dont know how that may affect other games, e.g. PalCo.
