    So on this time through, I decided to stall on the purchase of the castle to see what develops.

    So after letting him give his pitch twice, IIRC, he tells me to come back if I change my mind. But when I go back, I only get the option to purchase gems, jewelry, etc. And there is a huge block in front of the Castle door.

    Is there something I need to do to trigger the purchase option again?

    If this is now a dead end by design, I think that's a bit unfair. There are other "negotiable" transactions in the game so I think it's a bit unfair to have this one dead end without fair warning, particularly since there are two or more quests or encounters which rely on purchase of the castle.

    The blockade should be there until and unless you buy the place, but it should be for sale perpetually.

    Please input the following in the console (shift ~) and tell me what it returns:

    Code:
    game.global_vars[963]

    It didn't work. In the Silver Emporium I only get the option to purchase gems/jewelry.

    Is there another place/person to buy it from?

    The console returned a "3" after I entered the command.

    If that variable is 3, then that means you agreed to buy the castle, pursued the terms option, and then didn't buy it after all. There is indeed a bug however in that that outcome is supposed to allow for you to bring it up again later, but it doesn't. To get a shot at it again, set the variable to 2.

    Code:
    game.global_vars[963] = 2
    Then talk to Maurice.
