Just wondering, what use or benefit does tracking give? I see it gives enemies and location, but other than that I can't really see any use for it. Thanks.
In TOEE, Tracking is subsumed into the Survival skill, which I believe increases your chances of turning down random encounters on the worldmap, and possibly dictates how far away from them you start the encounter. In tabletop D&D, while the ability to track has been a part of the Ranger class since first edition, it's always seemed to me to be heavily modified by plot-based circumstance modifiers: DM (rolls dice behind screen) : You *do* manage to track the campaign hook to the next encounter location, and it takes you (rolls dice) *until the next session, when I've written the encounter* for you to do so!
