    Hey,

Just bought the game, and I'm dying to play. But I want to add the latest 5.7.2, before I begin, as otherwise I'll just need to start all over again once it's installed. The problem is, something is wrong, and i don't know what the hell is going on?

I have a machine more than sufficient to run the game, and my OS is Vista.
I installed the game itself, then the first two atari patches (but not the 3rd). Then I download the MOD. But when I open-up the root-directory of the game, (the folder simply titled "Temple of Elemental Evil" - with all the other stuff in it), the zipped mod doesn't appear. So, instead I of trying to "Save" the thing, Instead I choose to "Open" it when it downloads - which automaticall puts it in WINZIP. then I attempt to extract all the files into the root directory - with the following error occuring
    Error : access denied
Error : cannot create output file (root floder location)TFE-X-repair.txt
So then I just tried running the TFE-X-repair.txt directly from WINZIP by double-clicking on it, and I get an "Unhandled ex ception - Could not load file or assembly 'ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib ....etc....etc......
So I click "Ignore" and then what I take to be the front-end-X "window" opens. But it is empty in the modules area - and under the module-description - just lists the original mode with a level cap of 10. Clicking on the buttons (Play/Activate/...etc...) does nothing. And as nothing is happening I waited and waited but as I couldn't close the window normally - I was forced to to a control-alt-delete to deactive it from the task manager.
I know only enough about computers to use them for my CRPG gaming and nothing more, please talk down to me and expalin what I need toi do like you're talking to a child.
PLEASE What the hell is going on?

I'm not a vista user myself so I am no expert by any means, but from what I have read throughout many threads of similar problems, it seems to me that everyone on here with more knowledge about it than I is going to tell you to run as administrator and that should take care of it.

Anything more than that I don't know but if I've seen this same question once I've seen millions of times.

    *edit*
Oops, sorry. I forgot to talk down to you.

    Whose a good boy?

    WHOSE a good boy?!

    YOU are, aren't you?

Yes you are! You're a good boy!

Okay, but how do I "run as an administrator"?

As you said you'd seen the problem many times before, I ran a couple searches for it, but only turned up threads from people who couldn't get the game itself to work on Vista. I can run the game just fine, but I can't get Front-End-X to even install or work correctly. It seems such a waste to play regular and miss out on the CO8 additionds!

Oh, also one of the installation guides says to download Microsoft Net-Framework 2.0
But when I try to do this I recieve an error saying "This Product is not supported on a 64-bit operating system. Setup will now exit"

    Help

You ever find out how to get it to run, let me know.

    I can't do it either.

I dont know why you are having all of those problems, but using Vista and Win 7 I have had to run the game as an admin.

To do so, find the Toee.exe and the TFE-X.exe. Right click both of these, go into properties, and somewhere in there you need to run it as an administrator. Sometimes you need to run them in a WIn XP SP2 environment.

I dont remember the specifics, but that is how to change those seetings to get it working. This is assume you downloaded the mode files and copied them over your Atari/ToEE folder.

Net-Framework 2.0 shouldn't be a problem. I think Vista has a newer version already installed. If not, install the newest version.

Here's a step by step how to run in admin mode.

First: Find your TOEE directory (where you installed your game).

Second: Find ToEE.exe, right-click on them and bring up their "Properties".

Third: L-Click on the "Compatibility" Tab and check the box "Run as administrator" and click OK.

Fourth: UAC may ask you for permission. Click OK, permit, or whatever says "YES".

Fith: Do the same with TFE-X.exe

Hey! That's pretty cool how the Polish version knows exactly what you want to get to and then translates the important words into english! :poke:

Got to remember that in case I'm ever in Poland.

    Properties

    Compatibility

    Run program as administrator

I think I'm set to live in Poland if I had to.
