Hi guys! It's me again! I was able to figure out the role or how to play the majority of prestige classes. However I have doubts on arcane trickster build...It seems that because of sneak attack, necromancy and evocation spells would be more beneficial to him but from rp point of view, enchantment and illusion seem to fit more properly.Even specialized wizard(in necro or enchantment) could be of use before AT levels. How would you personally build your AT?Thanks for the advices and thank again to the staff for the amazing work
Please note that this build requires a very high intelligence score for reasons that will become obvious. Furthermore without the Lax Rules option you are restricted to one alignment Chaotic Evil. This build is going to hurt would be enchanters.... 1. Generate Chaotic Evil Rogue - an elf would be nice, maximise intelligence and dexterity at expense of everything else, allocate 4 points to Hide, Move Silently and Disable Device. Feat: Point Blank Shot 2. At 2nd level switch to Wizard - Specialist Evoker bining Enchantment/ Charm and Abjuration - please note when selecting skills you NEED to spend ANOTHER 8 points on Hide and 8 points on Move Silently by the time you reach Rog1/Evoc5 3. Select Precise Shot at level 3 and Spell Casting Prodigy (Arcane) [if available] at level 6 4. Take one level of Assassin being sure to raise your Disable Device skill to 7 ranks as you do so 5. You should be all set to take your first Arcane Trickster level at Level 8 (Rog1/Evok5/Ass1/Arcane Trickster1) 6. Continue advancing Arcane Trickster - Temple plus has no upper limit for advancement 7. Take Extend Spell at Level 9 and Craft Magical Armour and Weapons at Level 12 - you'll have to discover for yourself how you make Melf's Acid Arrow the most powerful spell in ToEE 8. Your forte is to Sneak around under cover of illusions deploying ray and touch spells from the Conjuration,Evocation Transmutation [Disintegrate] and Necromancy schools - you had to dump Abjuration and Enchantment because you can't spare any other schools.
@Pygmy Wow that's a complicated build, looks effective though, and still allows for a 9th level spell at 20th level, I like it. @ertury92 I'm currently GM'ing a Pathfinder game with my family, and dragging along an Arcane Trickster Ex-PC as an NPC since my stepson dropped out of our games... My build so far though is 4th Rogue/3rd Wizard (universal)/3rd Arcane Trickster (took Rogue 4 for the uncanny dodge). She's Elven, Dual Wielding +1 Adamantine/ m/w Cold Iron shortswords with weapon finesse, in +1 studded leather (Arcane Armor Proficiency) and using Ray/Touch spells for extra sneak damage, and using her cat familiar in tiny masterwork studded leather barding to deliver non damaging touch spells while invisible. I know a fair bit of my build isn't even possible in ToEE, but still. Nowhere near as optimised as @Pygmy's build, but still pretty fun, even if 9th level spells are off the table.
Overpowered???? What sort of characters do you develop? "The White Dwarf" courtesy of Games Workshop and lax rules is probably overpowered.... A Chaotic Good Dwarf Fighter 7/Dwarven Defender 2 with Exotic Weapon Proficiency Bastard Sword, Power Attack, Dodge, Toughness, Combat Expertise , Superior Expertise and Improved Critical Bastard Sword - note a Sword of Answering allows you to maximise Power Attack AND Combat Expertise....
I'm sorry if I offended you in some way. Please take my comment as a compliment to your build and not as an offense. I didn't know about this "white dwarf" thing...Explain better please.
Sorry you misunderstood my British humour - I am not at all offended. "The White Dwarf" reference shows my age - White Dwarf is?/was a British role-playing magazine which was founded during the height of the pen-and-paper D&D craze
White Dwarf magazine is still going, though it's focus is only on Games Workshop products, Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 being the most popular, primarily for fantasy and futuristic tabletop battle systems, they also covered Bloodbowl - a fantasy American Football type game, they also had Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit games in recent memory.
Oh wonderful Pigmy! My fault then,I misunderstood!Ahahahahah!Maybe I'm too young to know this magazine...Keep in mind that I Knew d and d world only by toee in 2003 and I was 11-12.Never played myself a d and d campaign for real...mmm
