As I post this, 7 hours or so ago, Tim Cain posted a video on his YouTube channel about questions he asked to WotC while they were deep in development of ToEE, I found it interesting, and you guys might too... especially what Gary Gygax said about Prince Thromel. You can find the video here.
The Thrommel thing is interesting. I'd assumed it was a mistake about Fragarach in the original module, and Scather was supposed to be the chaotic analogue (because there are swords for other alignments, too). Some of these questions confuse me. My copy of the ToEE module doesn't have anything about hill giant charisma. Most 1E stuff doesn't actually give ability scores for monsters, because you're not meant to calculate things that way. You just use whatever the stat block says. They would be mentioned if you're meant to treat the monster as having some relevant ability, but I don't see that in the module. Maybe it's some supplemental material that I don't have? Also, I've never heard of the level 0 multiclass thing. Is that a 3.0 thing that was removed in 3.5? It's almost impossible to find digital copies of 3.0 books anymore. Oh, also... The answer to the question about the critical hit is that both damages get doubled. But what they did is not implement touch spells discharging when you punch someone.
Kinda makes sense from a coding perspective. Discharging a spell calls for a specific attack, a 'Touch attack'. So when you opt not to 'Touch attack' but execute a regular punch (possibly allowing you to attack more times that round if your BAB is high enough or you have FoB as a Monk or whatever), you forego this prerequisite... ...even though a touch attack is easier to succeed at in the majority of cases. Kinda doesn't make sense from any other perspective, really hahaha Also: I spy in the YT-comments Endarire receiving the praise due all of the modders here. Hear hear!!! I think all the modders that contributed through the years should receive accolades by name specifically in the Steam release description. Those releasing it now are building on the shoulders of you giants, after all!
