My girlfriend and I went out for a long walk in the country today. We ended the walk in a small village where some of her ancesters lived in the 1800's. I made the comment that we hadn't come across any dogs which is nice. Sure enough we walked down a bridleway and came up to an old farm that had been converted into houseing, Each barn had ben walled off from it's neighbour and the road by a high wall. Each gate had a key code. Each house had a cctv pointing at it and behind the gates came the dreaded barks of pitbulls and mastiffs. We crossed a field to the village which was opposite the barn conversion. The field backed on to the backyards of the a row of houses where there were no gates, you could walk straight into their yards. Several of them had benches at the edge of their property facing onto the field with a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. One had put out a bowl of water for walkers dogs to drink. I wondered what they thought of the new neighbours who had fled the city a "safe" life in the country.
I don't know if them neighbors fled the city for a safe life. To me, a stronghold guarded by vicious flesh tearing dogs and security coded gates screams drug dealer or maybe just some other type of criminal that needs privacy, like a Jack The Ripper copycat or something. By the way Hugh, you're in England. Who was really Jack The Ripper? Was it the doctor or the butcher? I'm leaning towards doctor.
It was Vlad Tepes after he fled Transylvania. Silly mortals! A metal bowie wouldn't kill him. :vampire:
Jack the Ripper was someone who could approach women at a time when they would be suspicious and on their guard. I suspect it was actually Jill the Ripper.
