Due to people keeping alive old threads and just this game being so dam old it's a bit confusing to find the actual latest patch. The sticky said 5.0.0 final, but obviously people are using 5.0.4. Trouble is people, myself included can't find that link. Additionally, what happens when you change versions from 5.0.0 final, to higher versions I've read somewhere that some higher versions are not compatible. IE , What is compatible with 5.0.0? What drawbacks/problems occur with this and other versions of the patch? Please provide links to information and/or downloads if you so inclined. TYIA
as requested, the order of installs install ToEE install Atari Patch1 and Atari Patch2 install the Co8 5.0.0 MOD apply the Co8 5.0.4 CMF The Co8 5.0.4 CMF is the latest version with the most updates. For your reading pleasure, read THIS.
Thanks for the reply! My question is now this, it says use 5.04 IF 1. You are starting a new game OR 2. You are installing it over an older version of 5.0.3 or 5.0.4. .... I'm currently mid-game using 5.0.0 final.. the last post says to use, 5.0.4 but that conflicts with is said in the link-ed post that sounds uber-authoritarian. What should I do?
1. I would apply the Co8 5.0.4 CMF overtop of the installed game. * You can follow Zeb's instructions, skip step # 1 to 5 and start at step # 6 (HERE). 2. After 1, above, has been done I would go to the data\scr folder and look for the delete_pyc.cmd file and double-click the delete_pyc.cmd file [to delete the script temp files]. 3. Then, I would make sure the 'clear map cache' option checkbox is marked to clear the map cache the next time I launched ToEE. 4. Finally, I would launch a new game of ToEE, assemble a new adventuring party and start a new game.
@dragonalumni - If you install the 5.0.4 patch overtop the 5.0.0 mod, you will have to start a new game. If you would prefer to continue you're current game, don't install the 5.0.4 patch. Be aware that we consider all the 5.0.x patch stuff to be BETA, which is why it's not readily available in the downloads section. @krunch - The 'delete .pyc files' functionality has long been built into the 'clear game cache' checkbox option in ToEEFE. You don't need to hunt down that command anymore.
Do we know if that is just in the KotB version or is it in both the ToEE and the KotB versions of the Front End? hmm - That is the first I have read of that change/update. [EDIT] I have known the KotBFE is different. KotBFE is at revision 5.0. There are less checkbox options available in KotBFE than are available in ToEEFE. Other than that, I am unaware of other changes made to the Front End.
Since I am cooling my heels waiting for the demo to upload (and assiduously avoiding doing anything here at work) I have time to be annoyingly pedantic. :jerkin: Krunchy: this is not the first time you have been informed - please review THIS thread, then as suggested, test it and see what happens. I use this regularly when modding to see whether bothersome files have compiled or not.
Okay, that indeed was mentioned before. I did not try it, then. Although, I can say that I did try it tonight [after your response] with ToEE patched through the Co8 5.0.4 CMF. And, I can say that the Clean Game Cache On Startup option was marked. However, while the map temp files were deleted, the script temp pyc files were not deleted.
Just tried it myself and they were gone-gone-gone, Cap'm. Besides, do you doubt the power of Agetian when he says: You didn't by chance look for the .pyc files after you loaded a save or started a new game, did you?
Okay, I never installed the ToEE Front-End v4.01, the Pro version or whatever it is called. I have only used the default one that is with the Co8 5.0.0 MOD installer with a create date of Monday, July 31, 2006, 11:24:52 PM. It should have a version 3 of ToEEFE.
Eeeek! mg: ToEEFE is up to version 5, big K! (In fact there is a version 6, but only I have access to that :eyebrow: )
When I first came to Co8 I found this short post that linked version 5.0.0 final for public release.. http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1819 That post is a sticky in the download section.. That's why I find a lot of this confusing because a lot of hardcore Co8 folks are using 5.0.4.. but that information isn't located in that post, which has the 'authoritarian final release' montage. I humbly suggest that this be cleared up for the general public, so that they don't use faulty or outdated code. It's a waste of time for them and for the people who are doing so much hard work to provide further updates.
Speaking of further updates, I have uploaded a new CMF version 5.0.5 here less than an hour ago. The players using the CMF patches are effectively using Beta patches, which is why they are no openly advertised, they are available for testing and feedback purposes but we in no way encourage everyone out there using our mods to rush out and get them ASAP, as they usually require you to start a new game from scratch and delete your old saves. This will in all likelyhood, be the last public CMF update before the next installer version as I will be focusing my attention towards the Tales of the Wild Coast project now, which WILL change your game enormously, and hopefully fix the multitude of ballance issues that the added content has given rise to.
