In my pre-release run through, the Magic Missile wand in the Tutorial was working just fine, but I had a different bug with the chest. I could use the chest from the radial menu but it didn't summon the chest at all, later I found the scrolls of Extraplanar Chest and cast it, summoning a second chest on a character who didn't already have a chest, I then used the new chest from the radial menu and the chest appeared, but was unable to dismiss the chest. It just sat there on the wooden walkways in Nulb.

I have since found two scrolls of the magic chest but haven’t used them yet, the one that didn’t work was found on a zombie in the moat house. My wizard evoker spell focused is now level 4 and has other damage spells to use, but was pretty limited for damage at 3rd in the moat house, he would just buff and cc then try not to die with the MM wand I pick pocketed off Burne not working lol.

Sounds like fixes and updates will be needed after the New Year. (not sure if they are working during the holidays.)

Please remember this is not a bug report/discussion thread. As stated earlier, Co8 is not providing bug support for this release

So I have a question, which I don't really want to make a new thread and clutter for, but I don't think there's really any other place to ask:

I'm a blind gamer who played ToEE on release (When I had better vision) and loved it, and I want to get the whole experience, so I'm using SNEG's release + Co8 with content + TemplePlus. But a few days ago SNEG added a *really fantastic* feature where you can tab highlight to highlight most interactable map objects. This was/is absolutely huge for me, just an insanely transformative change for me because my vision has deteriorated enough to be legal blindness.

But it doesn't work with co8/temple+'s full patches :(. Is there any tentative plans for a new version of the mod that rolls in that change SNEG made (And I guess WASD camera support, but I care less about that)? I'm happy to wait, genuinely. I just want to know if I should bother holding out, even if it takes months or whatever time frame.

The change specifically for reference: "
    • Added an option to highlight containers while holding TAB, making objects such as chests and barrels easier to spot (Extra tab, enabled by default).
      "

tldr: What is the realistic possibility of a version of co8 w/ content and all the bells and whistles that also folds in the tab-highlight stuff?

Thanks for all your hard work over the years as well, this was my first CRPG as a teenager, and now in my 30s, it's been insane to see how far it really came thanks to all of you.

I'd love to be able to give you a positive reply to that question dude, I really would. I personally wouldn't even know where to begin to make that change, perhaps they can do something on the Temple+ side of things? It truely sucks about your eyesight deterioration, especially in one so young. Sorry my friend, I haven't a clue.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I guess I'll hold out hope that either this ends up getting resolved in the future. Thanks again, though!

@ProfStein , I'd say the best advice I could give right now would be to just play with what you've got that works for you.

Most likely the SNEG patch updated a core function in the .dll that our patch would just in turn re-overwrite when installed. Even if this were to be addressed on our end with a 13 years-on modpack update, we'd first have to consult with SNEG as to what they did, work up a fix, test it, roll up a new modpack, etc., etc. Meaning that it would be a long time down the road if it happened at all. I wouldn't stop playing to wait for that.

The tab thing was a real bugaboo because it blindsided everyone, and while our shared goal was compatibility across all forms, we can't really blame them for fixing a major bug in whatever way they had to. Sorry it's worked out for you this way nonetheless.

You can play with full Co8 New Content edition and the SNEG fixes/TemplePlusLite, but currently unable to get full TemplePlus and the SNEG fixes working together properly due to how TPL works as a separate wrapper. I have been trying to get all 3 working properly together but whenever copying the options from the TP ini over to the ToEE-setup.ini (TemplePlusLite) it erases the additional options. To get Co8 New Content edition working with the SNEG fixes I recommend following section 2: Co8/Temple+ Modded of my Steam guide "here" and once you complete Step 9 just hit play in Steam and the options should be working.

My 26 year old still shares how much fun she had playing TOEE with me 20 years ago. Great family entertainment that you can pause in an instant

Now that y’all have played the Steam version does it have the same content as your latest edition? Is their anything better or worse. Will they continue adding future adventures like you genius’s did? Thanks!

The SNEG release contains pared back versions of Temple+ and the Co8 Standard mod which removes anything that could be considered new content or could potentially contain copywrited material not owned by WotC.

The advantage of the Steam version is that the game comes pre-patched with versions of the player mods without the complications associated with installing them.

If you already have ToEE and have installed the Co8 and Temple+ mods installed you aren’t missing out on anything from not having the Sream version (quite the contrary in fact).

    So I'm curious ...

I heard on a review that the Steam version (and now GOG, which I'd already purchased years ago) with so many of Circle of Eight's fixes in it would not include the additional content you guys created. Will there be a content-only version of your mod? Because I gotta say, I don't think the game would be worth replaying without the Verbobonc and other extra adventure content.

Seriously: play without the Arena of Heroes? I think not! :D
