Does anyone remember a bug that would randomly drop the various merchants inventories way, way back in the day? Well, it has reared its head and the steam crowd are losing their collective shit. The bug is only affecting the vanilla content from what I see while playing. The Co8 masterwork content appears even after the bug takes place. I know it's not funny, but I'm laughing anyway. This crowd has no clue how broken the game was before y'all spent so much time and effort.
Oh dear, I fear SNEG are going to have a number of issues with this release, I know we added an Inventory respawn mechanic to the Co8 mod that periodically would bin off all the junk you sold them and refresh with a standard somewhat randomised list of available items, perhaps they broke that respawn code somehow, or deleted the respawn containers mob files by mistake.
I don't follow - randomly drop the inventory? As in, on the floor? I don't remember that, even if you scrolled down the inventory box and forced them to buy more than they should have been able to handle. A player, of course, with a full inventory, will drop stuff given to them - this sounds like the stuff is going into the NPCs personal inventory (and onto the ground) rather than into their box. I'm just guessing without seeing it... is this Lareth, perchance? That's how Liv introduced the first new vendor before Ag figured out how to do the inventory box connection.
I hope my dialog fixes got into the new release! Even if they didn't, I'm very pleased to see the work done by all here acknowledged officially!
Just to be clear, this release is in no way a remaster. Higher resolutions are supported etc., but there was no texture upscaling or anything like that. It's more like a modern re-issue with the bugs fixed.
They fixed that on Sunday. It's just 1 week after release, but SNEG has pushed like 3 patches already, and apparently the new one is on the way.
I’m proud owner of the new release of ToEE! Thanks to all that kept it alive! I was trying to run it with TemplePlus for the settings, and races/feats, but noticed after installing that WASD camera navigation and containers no longer highlighted when tab is button pressed. Are those improvements not compatible with Temple+? I installed Co8 New Content pack and initialize it. But not sure if it installed when launched from TemplePlus.exe Is there an easy way to tell by convo with NPC if the CO8 new content pack loaded?
You can run the Temple+ config program to check the mod version it detects, or if you want to check manually, if there is a Cleric named Ronald in the Church of St. Cuthbert, your Co8 mod installed correctly, if not you probably need to run the TFE-X.exe file in your root folder, select the Co8 NC modpack and activate it (it takes a little while and requirss Java to run), once complete you could run the Temple+ config program to confirm it has identified the correct mod is installed and detected before using the Temple+ launcher to run the game.
The WASD and tab thing sound like engine tweaks. I haven't looked yet, but from what I heard the Steam release works sort of similar to Temple+, which wraps the original game to provide new functionality. But, I assume that if you can use it with Temple+, it will be Temple+ wrapping the original game engine, which means the engine tweaks from the Steam release won't be there unless Temple+ also did them. In the original game, WASD were rebindable hotkeys for actions, and tab only highlights items on the ground. Temple+ hasn't changed that. The new behavior could be added (maybe as options), but it hasn't been.
Is there a guide to installing them? I’ve successfully installed TemplePlus and have installed the Co8 new content pack and activated it, with the Steam release, but can’t launch from stream without errbut not sure yet if the content has actually loaded. Is there an easy way per NPC interaction to tell if the new content loaded? If the new release is completely compatible I may have done something wrong, because WASD camera navigation and containers highlighting no longer works. Tab now highlights wells, barrels, and chests as well as bodies and items on the ground.
@Agetian is forming up a basic evaluation. Should be pretty simple, but I'd just hold off doing anything with it until he's made a statement.
I downloaded the Co8 new content mod pack.exe launched it and pointed it to my root folder, when it completed installing the files it automatically launched the activate portion of the TFE-X.exe but later I launched the TFE-X.exe myself I installed the Co8 NC mod pack, but it was a new installation so TFE-X performed the necessary operations to convert my installation for use with the Circle of Eight Modpack. But when the TFE-X finished, it relaunched the TFE-X Ui but I didn’t , select the Circle of Eight Modpack from the TFE-X menu and click 'activate.' I mistakenly left it on the default ToEE and hit activate. I have remedied that and now TemplePlusConfig shows the Co8 mod is installed, and I can launch from TemplePlus with Co8 NC content. The install still is not working with WASD and highlighting containers, but hopefully when it’s fixed I won’t have to start over to get the functionality back.
Congratulations, gentlemen! I've been lurking here for many years, certainly before the 2014 date on the account. It warms my heart to see all of the hard work you have put into ToEE being recognized officially. Well done!
Ok a couple more bugs I thought I was posting in this thread but posted in the main ToEE thread lol, Merry Christmas! So the Magic Miniature chest isn’t shown in radial menu to summon, and magic missile the spell and wand casts fine but missiles do no damage
