Co8 is happy to announce the upcoming re-release of ToEE on Steam. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3843520/The_Temple_of_Elemental_Evil/ Published by SNEG, this release will integrate both Temple+ and the Circle of Eight Standard modpack version 8.1.0 into a stable, comprehensive package suitable for running on modern systems. The planned release date is December 10, 2025. Additionally, Co8 is very happy to announce that SNEG has generously donated the amount of $10,000 USD in Co8's name to the Extra Life charity. https://www.extra-life.org/participants/564234# A big thank you goes out to SNEG, and to every Co8 modder who's ever contributed to the modpack. None of this would have been possible without each of you. --- Feel free to use this thread as a discussion board for the release, but bear in mind this is not a bug thread. ToEE will doubtless still have some legacy bugs, but Co8 is not going to be directly involved in any patching that's potentially done, outside of consultation. Lastly, thanks again to all the players of ToEE over the years who have used the modpack. Ultimately, this release would not have come about if it weren't for your continued interest in this great game. We hope you enjoy it in its newest form all over again.
Thanks for the post and the info on Sneg's donation. I'll add my own thanks to all the modders and play testers who helped to keep this game alive.
This is of course fantastic news!!! Question: C08 has generously shared their work with SNEG. Apart from perhaps asking consultation, will SNEG be offering to Co8 what they've been doing in terms of code/patches of their final product? As in, will future endeavors/content created by Co8 be able to function on whatever SNEG is putting out? Or phrased differently: will C08 be actively steering towards opening their future creations up to a larger audience by consciously designing content that also functions on the SNEG-base that the Steam-audience has running? Considering this is one of the few 3.x edition RPG-computer games out there (and a BANGER at that), this Steam-release could invigorate the modding scene for this version greatly! Might even lure local old-timers out of hiding, no? Sitra? anatoliy? gazra? Who knows?!?
@anatoliy is in hiding, mostly from the government mandated Ukraine Army conscription, and with extended periods of electricity blackouts all through the country right now I can imagine that would make mod writing for ToEE challenging at best, I wish him well and for a speedy resolution of the conflict he's enduring.
Yeah I'm around, but not really active anymore. Don't have much time and energy for that anymore with 4 kids and Mrs. Sitra doing hospital shifts
this is cool. it also explains an item i noticed on steam a few minutes ago. on a screenshot from the fire elemental node i saw the chest that is picked up from the zombie jail cells under the moathouse. was pretty confident that chest is a Co8 item. when ToEE was announced on steam there was a thread here wondering if SNEG had contacted y'all. i am very happy they reached out to y'alls great group. much love and respect, kilraven. Edit; after rereading primary post now i'm really excited i no longer remember what content was in 8.1 this is going to be so much fun! guess what i'll be playing for my 62nd birthday.
Wow! Simply amazing! I just picked this up today, and am taking it for a spin! How do mods from here act with it, seeing as it is using the Co8 Standard modpack version 8.1.0? And a big grats to all the Co8 members who worked tirelessly and diligently on this! Pretty cool to see it get implemented into the game itself!
Dumb question but what if i want to play with it with the 8.1 NC version instead ?! what extra steps would i need to do for that?! I assume just flat out running the NC setup and pointing it at the game folder would wreck everything ?! Any advice small guide/steam post for new returning players would be greatly appreciated !!
The Co8 8.0.1 New Content modpack should install onto the Steam version in the same way it is usually installed, it has been tested on a prerelease version, there was a minor issue with video playback after the install which we were told would be resolved before the full release today.
Apparently if you bought the game on GoG you'll get the new version for free. When it comes out on GoG and I have some time, I'm going to do a clean install and then see if I can get Paladin's Cove to work. ::fingers crossed::
I just heard that Co8's work got put into the Steam release! Not sure anyone remembers me, but I fondly remember learning to mod with the Golden Skull mod. I know it was far from perfect, but I am thankful I did it and I am incredibly thankful for everyone that helped me and later fixed it. Nice work everyone!
@Ranth good to see you around again dude, thanks for your contributions to our mods over the years. It is nice that this release has brought back some of the Co8 mod's many contributers to share in this celebration of our colaboration. I think we all deserve a collective "well done" pat on the back.
A repeat from an earlier thread... a HUGE thank you to all the modders, coders, and the numerous players who have come and gone in the game. Without you we wouldn't have this new release and uncountable hours of fun we have enjoyed.
