I already thought of that and added it in. But, since the AV software didn't come up telling me it was protecting my system unless I override, that's probably not the issue.
have you attempted to right-click and select "run as administrator" Even though your user may be an admin, sometimes Windows changes the behavior when you do the "run as admin" For some other apps I've needed to do that for the installation, and for some other apps I've needed to do that when running that particular app. Win10 and Win11 are fickle.
So, I decided to try from scratch, old-school. I uninstalled everything. Then I installed ToEE from my original discs. After that, I installed Patch 1, then Patch 2, then Co8: New Content. All of that started up, no problem. I installed Temple+ and still, it will not launch. There must be something stupid or simple That we are all missing here. If you look at some older posts of mine in a Temple+ Question thread, I asked a few questions about how to access some of the features to be able to modify them. So, I obviously was using it before. Why can't I use it now? What is the secret formula? Uninstalling everything again and going back to my GoG.Com install.
Much to my surprise, I am still alive after all of these years. I only got Temple+ working a few months ago. My modding experience is playing around with .dlg and protos, which I was quite good at. Now I got cocky and tried to make some small modifications with Notepad++ on the relevant .py files. I modified the text to give Shield spell to Beguilers I modified the Bard.py to give proficiency with Longbow and something else. I couldn't figure out how to give Bards the Shield spell After adding my text to those files, the game would not start anymore. I suppose I could find the originals, but I am curious how to do the mini-modding successfully. Thanks for any instructions.
To be more clear, I was modding in the tpdata / tpgamefiles / rules. I did notice that many files are duplicated in ToEE1-4 DAT. Do I need to repackage all of these into the DAT compressed files?
Assuming you are using an overrides file and that the files you are editing and saving therein are class008_bard.py and class048_beguiiler.py, then it is likely that you have corrupted the indentation where you made one or both alterations. You can confirm this by looking at the most recent text report in user/saved games/templeplus. You need to extract 426 - Shield.txt from ToEE3.dat, add Lvl: Brd1 below the equivalent entries for sorcerer and wizard and save the result in overrides\rules\spells
Not for me. I am having the same issue. I have tried all of the same things that the OP of this thread has. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I found and did this: Q. Temple+ ran fine, and then suddenly it stopped working. A. Delete templeplus.ini file in the folder: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Saved Games\TemplePlus and everything started working again.
Thank you Pygmy for the help. I have found the report files but I don't know how to interpret them. Do they identify which file and where my tinkering went awry? I tried to upload the .txt and .dmp files here but the site rejects because they are not the correct format
