I was bored so i wanted to play some of my old games. I installed ToEE but with patches it CTD with a send-to-goodfornothingM$ error and Modapp:Temple.dll. Even when i installed Co8 5.0.0 it crashed. It almost always in the character creation but sometimes in game like during a fight and exploring. I cant play the game  Please help Sys specs: Windows XP SP2 Athlon XP 3200+ 512MB RAM Geforce 6800GS 256MB
Ok, I'm thinking you might need to go hunting down some new VIA drivers. VIA chipsets can be glitchy without adding in a temperamental game like ToEE. Other things which may help, are to have a look at your video card drivers and update if necessary and also to have a look at your video card settings and try turning them down just a few notches to see if that helps. Delete the game if you are adding new drivers, and then reinstall the game once your new drivers are installed. edit: I hope I don't need to say that before playing with drivers, to make a system restore point so if the new drivers are screwy, you can just roll back
Ok. How about the settings on your video card? IIRC you can't change aperture size on the Geforce 6800 but it's always worth trying the other options. Hardware acceleration on your sound card too might be the culprit. Is this crash thing happening solely with ToEE? Or are you noticing it with other games, that they will play for a while and then crash? (yeah it's a dumb question, but needs to be asked ).
I tried changing the acceleration in DxDiag and performance in Graphic card. And yes i see some errors but only with the new games: Hitman: BM, Prey, DMC3 and TQ. But i think its because the coding is done fast and games today arent stable, because HL2: Episode 1 worked fine but Sin Emergence didnt and they are on the same engine.
Ok. So there are other games which play for a while and then crash? How many sticks of memory do you have? 2 x 256? Try running the game with just one if so, and then with the other. Sometimes memory can cause this kind of crash. Is your graphics card overheating? (I'm assuming nothing is overclocked on your system btw).
Like i said... Prey works perfectly even with max/low graphics then it crashes. DMC3 crashes suddenly dont know when even but that game is a conversion so what do you expect. Titan quest too but it has a serious problem of multithreading and its not done properly so it crashes when you exit for example a cave. The most strange is HL2: Episode 1 because it works perfectly but Sin Emergence with the same graphic engine it suddenly crashes. Yes i have 2x256... But i wont try it now. No it isnt overheating and it isnt overclocked.
Yeah that is odd. Of course, some games are just glitchy (ToEE being one of them) but when you start seeing several games doing the same thing, it's time to have a look at your system and doublecheck. Going to have to do some reading up on issues with your graphics card and see if the problem is possibly coming from there. I can't read directx tests properly to diagnose via that which is why I haven't asked to see one (although someone else who can interpret them is more than welcome to step forward!). Very odd. But the solution will present itself eventually. I'll go poke some tech-heads and see what they can come up with
Thanks. Any help will be most appreciated. Even after uninstalling and installing graphic drivers the error continues. Maybe i wasnt meant to play ToEE?
!!! You said ASRock K7VT6. That has this chipset. - Northbridge: VIA KT600 - Southbridge: VIA 8235 ASRock shows these 2 motherboards. -> K7Upgrade-600 and K7VT6-C You said you have a K7VT6. Make sure your information is correct, first, before proceeding. [Read the book that came with the motherboard or computer.] [EDIT] Try these files...if you have not already installed these files. Do step 1 and step 2. If it still has problems, follow step 3. ________________________________________ (1) DRIVERS: See post # 14 (2) Download and install this nVidia ForceWare driver for your 32-bit version of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. -> click here for nVidia ForceWare video drivers (3) BIOS: See post # 14 ________________________________________ [NOTES - please read] (1) "Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers or flash rom and utilities. I done that but i dont have like you said: "-> click here for ASRock K7VT6-C files" I have a normal K7VT6 (click "AMD Series" and you will see mine under -C)... and i downloaded all these drives, graphics too and BIOS. I said that earlier (well except the Bios)
The older K7VT6 model is listed [described] under their legacy products as this for access to its drivers. *** Notice the last three entries for BIOS version updates, shown below. *** The last ever BIOS version update for your motherboard was an update for the Athlon XP 3200+ CPU.
