what is the random generator settings for starting the game with money? Sometimes with 3 characters i start with 500gp (most of the time) others i start with as much as 670gp. I realize from when i used to play DnD money was dependant on character classes. I realize i get more with more players, but i've gotten 500 with two characters. I like to buy the compound 16 str longbow, but i need 600 plus to get it. so i have tried to start with 3 characters on NG, then let one wussy go after the bandit and let him get killed. then i got the money for three but start with two. ANy suggestions for making more cash at the start? The searches on this subject (Money start) didn't appear to make this a common question.
ok, so now i started a game with 5 characters (haven't done that in years) the starting cash was still only 500gp? Why?
you can console some extra gold. off the top of my head i think its "game.party[0].money_adj(100000)" to give yourself 100000 gold pieces. i generally give in and give myself extra gold. its the one cheat i give in to.

Before Co8-5.0.0 was released, there was a standard amount of 500GP awarded to all groups reguardless of group size and/or composition in addition to your starting equipment. The Shopmap mod in the 5.0.0 installer options list, gives you the oppertunity to start without any gear, with free clothing and/or with free weapons that your players took feats in, and award a random amount of currency depending on your party's classes and number of players according to random figures between the minimum and maximum amounts for each class according to the PHB. now you may have seen it say you had 500 gp at the start, then not checked back after the random starting gold had been calculated. Adventuring equipment can then be bought from the caravan traders who are also on the shop map, before your adventure starts.
