I recently just started playing the game. On most occasions, I prefer to finish all quests in an area, then double check if I didn't miss anything, then move on. Did it with the IE games and DD. No offense but daaamn, the quests in the beginning of ToEE are extremely dull. Good-aligned unoriginal quests with only one path. :blank: Converting people to a church, convincing a person to get a fiancee, transporting grain from one side of the town to the other for an old lady and many other quests in Hommlet are extremely tedious and uninteresting. After a hour of trudging through the village, I found out that my logbook has about 10 quests in it - with only one finished. It especially sucks that the quests aren't at all fit for an evil party - MY party. :transform: Plus, the game's engine isn't fit for walking around towns. Oh well, at least I found out a bit later that the combat rocks. In any case, a few questions: 1) Are there any EEVULL quests in Hommlet? 2) Are there any complex multi-path quests in Hommlet? 3) Are the quests in the later areas in the game as simple and tedious? 4) Can the simple fetch quests in Hommlet affect my reputation? Oh, and since I'm on a roll here: 5) Is the game performance slightly slow for you guys too? Does your game also have a slowdown whenever you press on the black stuff on the coast of an area? Do any of the mods help against this? Thanks in advance.
I take it you're not playing Liv's mod yet. She's added several more complicated quests. (Although I guess she left the boring one in too). Anyway, in the original game no there really aren't any evil quests until you get up into the temple, with the exception of just one or two in Nulb (an assassination for instance). And the quests really don't ever get too great. Play liv's mod for actual thinking quests, if that's what you want. Just beware the game is harder under her modifications. Some things you do can affect your rep. If you, for instance, force someone to pay a debt, you can make him poor, earning you the pauper maker (or something like that) reputation, which makes lots of people react differently to you. I'm not sure if that affects prices in any way, but it should. Doesn't seem to get in the way of any of the quests. As for the slowdown, if you've turned down all the graphical settings in the options menu, there's not much else you can do (besides getting a better computer, which doesn't always help). You can try updating drivers and such, but there are places the game just lags. It was worse before patch 1 and 2, I think, but it's not good now, just better.
It reverses once you hit the temple - there, there are at least a dozen quests that can only be done by evil parties. If you are playing with fog switched on, it sounds like you don't have the Co8 patch. For memory, fog-off in Hommlet and Nulb is standard in it. And that will deal with some of your performance issues.
