For those who haven't heard, a bunch of SSI veterans have teamed up again to form TSI, and have a new Turn Based RPG in the works, called Seven Dragon Saga. They're probably going to launch a Kickstarter campaign soon. Meanwhile you can view some nice concept art and dev posts on their site. Worth keeping an eye on! I played and enjoyed SSI's Dark Sun: Shattered Lands, which was one of the inspirations for that game I link in my sig
Wow- does this bring back the memories of those glorious Gold Box days! I must have run a dozen different parties thru the Pool of Radiance before buying the hint book and finding out that I'd missed rescuing the princess from Kobald Caverns- which meant that I had to immediately create a new party and go rescue her...
I can safely say that Pool of Radiance (goldbox) is the reason I'm here today. Sokal Keep, Valhingen Graveyard ... good times. They managed to squeeze a lot of fun into those little blotches on the screen.
SSI was it! I too started my gaming on those very same games. I still don't miss having to draw my own map though. Oh, and here's a link to their site TSI. I didn't see one in SA's post.
SSI totally rocked. I still play Steel Panthers. I remember getting my party wiped by a bunch of bunnies in the woods in one of their monochrome games.
I never played the Gold Box games, but Wizard's Crown was so great, I actually dug up an Apple IIgs on eBay so I could play it again.
Forgive me if this is slightly off topic but I got a reminder from GOG.com that Wasteland 2 will release on the 19th of this month- talk about reviving a classic! (the guys that made it worked on the original Wasteland). I think my PC gaming is about to go into overdrive...
Yeah, I've been playing the early release version, (backed it on Kickstarter) and it's pretty true to the original, but with better graphics.
I wish Wizard's Crown could get a modern day make over- I never finished it and I'd really like to...
