Does the spring attack feat not provide the protection from an AOO that it should according to the SRD? It didn't seem to be working correctly for me. If this is the case I am going to look into fixing it in Temple+. Benefit When using the attack action with a melee weapon, you can move both before and after the attack, provided that your total distance moved is not greater than your speed. Moving in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the defender you attack, though it might provoke attacks of opportunity from other creatures, if appropriate. You can’t use this feat if you are wearing heavy armor.
I've really only used this for the God's fight, but IIRC this only happens if you do not specifically select single attack before moving away. Otherwise it doesn't seem to fail. It's easy to forget to do this from habit, though. I don't recall the AoO thing, but it's possible this was due to reach. Enlarge + Righteaous Might + Warhammer might be too far for AoO. And....this was before the AoO fix for reach weapons - which I mention just in case it had an impact on the mechanism. Edit: ahh I remember....by this time you generally have guaranteed tumble DC check anyways. So that would be why it was never an issue late game.
Sorry I was misled by the fact that the feat is called "Spring Attack" rather than "Walk up and make a single attack and then walk away*
I'm just reporting the way to make this work currently. Also here is srd definition: So it basically is defined as I'm certainly not against improving it to not have to use single attack action, but maybe that's a hard job to cover all the possible implementation bugs. __________________________ Also, to get this you need 2 feats: one of which is not very useful in ToEE = mobiity (because tumble + light armor is just better) and the other is 1 AC... there are better feats early. So I suspect that most haven't played around with Spring Attack and eventually seen the benefits of mobility and SA by staying with heavy armor the entire game. I have used heavy armor because it's there and Hedrak's stuff is fun for for most of the game. But once you reach the gods fight mobility truly is useless. Fruella is the best Npc fit for this because she starts with all the necessary stats/feats. Even then, I usually don't take SA until much later as there are [imho] better feats for her to have if you are not making her into a plain fighter. And Furnok did work as a mediocre Duelist, but it's also a long time before he gets to SA. Edit: further ...I was reading the srd definition and it states that Spring attack can not be used with heavy armor. However, I can't remember if that restriction is implemented in ToEE. Edit2: So, imho since this feat is not supposed to work with heavy armor and it's pretty easy to be close to +14 [to the DC 15 hard-coded tumble check = guaranteed success] ...by the time you get this feat in light armor...is it really worth worrying about the AoO aspect?
