How do you guys use Solid Fog? It sounds useful going by the description, but if I cast it on a group of enemies they all gain concealment, yet if I cast it on my own archers/supports it conceals them but also lowers their attack.

Its very unsportsmanlike but I get the tank(s) to stealthily push open the door of the Greater Temple Bugbear barracks (up by the elves prison) and then cast Solid Fog inside with everyone who can using wands of fireball into the fog in subsequent rounds. There are rarely any survivors to attack the party from the rear.... If you want to be doubly sure a Stinking Cloud in front of the doorway is good. I am not really interested in the concealment afforded, it is the slowing of the bugbears which is crucial for this massacre

So it's just a glorified Entangle? With the advantage of no reflex save I guess.

I think this might not be implemented correctly, but if you cast it on enemy archers and they don't move, then essentially everyone they attack should have (total) concealment, because the fog obscures their vision. It should even be possible to cast it between archers and your party to gain concealment, but I think ToEE is really not designed to enable that.

All that applies to Fog Cloud, but also Solid Fog is supposed to make ranged attacks ineffective, presumably because the fog slows the missiles down. So an archer standing in Solid Fog should be completely nullified until they get out of it. I don't know if that works either, though.

Also works indoor (though entangle has been interpreted forgivingly with that)

I see. A bit underwhelming then. It would be great if you could actually strategically position it to catch missiles in flight. Doesn't seem to be the case as is; everyone gets the same concealment - the archers shooting into or through the fog as well as creatures within it.

Iirc, True Seeing will allow your archers to ignore such concealment. The AI never casts it. In this way Solid Fog is much superior to entangle. If you recall the "Robin Hood" encounter wih mostly archers.... Solid fog can effectively shut down almost all enemy opposition from the start.

I've also tried it during the Zuggtmoy battle, in which it also shuts down all the summoned plants throwing acid.. BUT, I have yet to not have it eventually crash that battle and can't recommend it there.
