For those interested in gender equality and sexual discrimination issues I have noticed something odd. Males and females can have relationships (i.e Fruella and a male PC, Meleny and a male PC), and there is even the possibility of a male-male relationship (the tooth pulling pirate and a male PC) but the game does not allow the possibility of a female NPC-female PC relationship. The closest it comes to this is in Skole's Tavern when Lodriss can be chatted up by anyone, male or female, but she always says she is not interested. So in TOEE lesbian PCs never find true love !

Perhaps the designers at Troika thought that no gay women would be interested in playing TOEE, or they thought no one would notice or care but I am sure by the laws of probability that sooner or later a gay woman or a feminist interested in gender issues will play this game and what will this person think when she sees the imbalance in gender relationships ?

This is just an aside. It is not a criticism, just an observation. I don't know what the mods and unofficial patches contain, so perhaps this imbalance is rectified in them, I don't know.

you are mistaken, a female pc can agree to marry the herdsman in homlett (Eddies Dad), although he doesn't come along for the adventure. also Janelda in the brothel seems quite interested in a girl to girl relationship but that's about as far as it goes.

    Girl power!

As my granddaughter would say, there is no power females in the game, until the Demoness Zugg. The most powerful wizard is Burne, fighter is Otis, and not much else. With a lot of magical help, Meleny can be a power Druid. Fruella can be a power fighter. A belt of giant strength+6 and an amulet of health+6, plus some crafted armour and weapons can make a powerful NPC. The selection of female npc's is pretty slim, but I always have a powerful female half-elf wizard to even things out.

I had a pretty awesome human female necromancer, not sure if you've seen the Royo custom portraits from sorcerers.net, but (by level 12!) she kicked many bugbears buckets for them!

I think saving the day for Jenelda (the not even bi- but homosexual whore in Nulb), the brothel, and all of Nulb's lesbian brothel-patronising female population qualifies ToEE as being pretty much completely sexual orientation-equality-sensitive.

Plus, your female PCs can make love to Janelda as often as you like, I believe. What more could you ask for? If you want long-term relationships, just RP that 2 of your female PCs are lovers. :))

    Jenelda?

If Jenelda was a out-of-luck wizard with real good ability scores, and could be rescued from the brothel, that would be cool. I don't know how difficult those kind of changes are. If it's a big time consuming hassle then it wont happen. I assume you can create or modify anything. It's just a matter of time or want to. Just another suggestion.

A female character marrying a herdsman is NOT an example of a lesbian relationship so I don't know why Allyx would even mention this. As for the rest of the comments, they obviously refer to a mod since in the original game as released by Troika there is no brothel. So my observation still stands.

To point out, the brothel was in fact original content by Troika that got cut becuase of concerns on the part of Hasbro. Co8 simply re-enabled it. So brothel = game in its original state.

hey Wizgeorge your forgetting about mother screng aka y'dey, who may be the most powerful cleric in the game. i admit that there are more male npc's and they are for the most part more powerful but they have thier share of wimps too.

i found it funny that they disabled the borthel but left in the gay relationship with betram. but now that you have enabled it again yeah we have lesbian relationship again even though she wont marry any of your girls since she is a whore lol. seems like there was another minor female npc somewhere that took an intrest in other women but nothing came of it either. oh well. i think the game could be a bit more balanced but its not bad

Well . . . if we assume that the socio-cultural climate in Greyhawk is the same as ours today (big assumption), then homosexuality would still be less prevalent than heterosexuality. Therefore, there should be something like 9 opportunities for hetero relationships for every homosexual one. And they say females are much more likely to be bisexual, so there should be, what, 5 opportunities for female bisexual relationships in that group, and maybe 1 opportunity for a male bisexual relationship . . .

See where this is going? When we become overly sensitive to this idea of fairness, and enforcing fairness, then things get rediculous. Let's just be happy that ToEE contains this type of intrigue in the first place. ;)

P/S - Thinking back, I can recall numerous times where female NPCs will directly address female PC interaction (Fruella, the girls at the Waterside Hostel, Lodriss), so this type of thing has definitely not been blacklisted.

I've never been able to get Mother Screng in the game. No dialouge ever comes up that she can or will. I have no clue on how it's suppose to happen.

    You've got to get...

...Otis to join up first..so does this make it a 3-some...?

BTW, Elmo is a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

yes, no criticism, you only label your thread "sexual discrimination".

Quite frankly its a load of hogwash, if anything it was just that the designers didn't think of every possible conbination. I mean you could complain there isnt enough represenation of bisexual hermaphroditial polygamy if you get right down to it. The game is extremely open ended and it does not seem to differentiate between the sexes at all, and even if it did it would not really be discrimination. Get over it.

Whats really funny is how many people respond with "girl power" when discussing the need for lesbianism... (ever heard of the sterotype of the man hating feminish lesbian?)

    It's because...

...most guys like lesbians due to their desire to have an encounter with one and "reform" them...or better yet, to encounter two or more conflagratio dilecti and wind up in the mix with them. Fantasies found only in the pages of some other forum, if you take the meaning. No lesbians I know would get with a guy under any circumstances (especially like that), and those who believe otherwise are simply dreaming. A lesbian who would involve themselves with men and women isn't a lesbian; they are bi-sexual.
