Hi all. Sorry if this has been covered and I missed it while searching. I installed the first two Atari patches, then the Co8 patch (3.04), then Livonya's mod. I absolutely love them! They are extremely well done and bring a lot more life, and extended life, to this game. Thanks. I just wish I could play them. See, I get this nasty, seemingly random crash when saving games. The only thing that is consistent about it, is that it happens only when I save my games. But I might pull off several saves while leveling up the party (hehe), and then I might not be able to successfully save once for hours (yeah, i like it enough to play certain parts over that many times-- usually mass melees). The crash produces a Windows Error message. Here's the text:

DDHELP caused an invalid page fault in
    module <unknown> at 0000:baabb1f9.

    Here are my system specs:
    Win98SE
    512 MB RAM
    Pentium III 1G
    Sounblaster Live (latest drivbers)
Visiontek G4 Ti4400 (latest ref drivers)
    I am running DirextX 9.0c

The error seems like some sort of corruption, but I have installed the game and all patches/mods at least 3 times (following directions from this forum). As far as device driver corruption, I have no crashes in any other applications, and I play quite a few other games (though I am still somewhat open to that possibility I guess; it just seems unlikely). The only consistency in the whole matter is that it only happens on saves, and it can happen if I use the save menu or the quicksave (which leads me to believe it has nothing to do with switching the display). Is it possibly some sort of write error? I doubt it is corrupted saves, as it is to random. I can fail for hours, then end up saving in that same spot the next day.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am a gamer from way, I mean way, back, and this game provides quite a nice little fix for an old habit.

    EDIT: Was running Co8 3.04, not 4.0

I don't know if this has anything to do with your crash problem, but Co8 4.0.0 (currently the latest version of the Co8 mod) already has Liv's Mod in it. Installing Liv's mod on top of it might have unforseen consequence.

I'm going to give that a try. I believe I was using Co8 3.04 (can't find a readme on it in the directory), then Liv's on top of that. I'll uninstall and reinstall everything to see if it helps. Thanks.

Based on my own experiences & those of others that I've read since it came out, it seems that a new fresh install is the ticket when going with co8 4.0. Less problems all the way 'round.

Thanks for the advice. I uninstalled everything last night and reinstalled. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to crank it up and create a new party by the time I finished that. I will let you folks know if it solved my problem, but it might take a few days.
I edited the first post to reflect my error regarding what version of Co8 I isntalled. I said latest version, but it was actually 3.04.
