As I've discovered, Reincarnation is MUCH cheaper than Resurrection, which is particulary good at the start of the game when you're hurting for cash as it is. Now, my question is - Jaroo warns you, and I know from the PnP version of D&D, that the Reincarnated party member may very well end up as Something Else. However I've never seen this happen - if PC "X" started as a human, I've never seen a Reincarnation make him/her an elf or a gnome or a badger or whatever. Is this possible in ToEE? Have I just been lucky? Should I keep paying 225 GP to Jaroo vs. 1000 or so to Terjon, or am I playing Badger Roulette with my PCs?
Reincarnation never had the chance of changing the PC's race in ToEE, this is something I'd like to see fixed, though it may make for some rather odd happenings (EG... a Dwarven cleric/fighter with Dwarven waraxe specialisation is suddenly turned into a Halfling who isn't proficient with his main weapon until he takes an exotic weapon proficiency for it, and has to wield it 2 handed). I beleive the main reason it wasn't implemented properly is due the humans getting extra skill points and an extra feat (or loosing them if thier turned into something else). Currently Ressurection and Reincarnation are exactly the same spell with a different name, and level requirements (and casting cost).
Well doesn't that just beat all.... I never even bothered with Reincarnation because of my past PnP experiences with the spell. If it's all the same, looks like Jarro will be handling that task from now on.... can't stand Terjon anyway.
Is Reincarnation supposed to reset experience? Meleny just got chunked by the ambush after leaving the moathouse, and after asking Jaroo to raise her she is back to 500 exp (but still level 2, oddly enough?). I thought Resurrection was not supposed to involve exp loss.
RAW? no. Jaroo's "Reincarnate" spell is in fact a cheap "Raise Dead" since it was already coded, and (I assume) changing a creature's race mid-game can cause some graphical glitches and other issues with build, racial weapon proficiencies etc? If I'm mistaken on this last point I'd hope someone would write up a RAW Reincarnate spell at some point.
