First of all, congratulations for a great mod. I try this game years ago and throw to a corner without give it a second look. Thanks to this mod I m enjoying a lot the game. My question is about gamplay. In MANY games lots of things are out of logic, like (x died in your arms) and the player is capable of raise dead and heal and have potions and scrolls.Right in this game the first anoying moment is where I find the destroyed caravan that the gnolls I allow to leave left behind. The girl died and I point my cleric with the raise dead scroll and I cant target the girl or the other ppl. Not sure how hard is to implement that, and I m not pointing at this game about that, I see same errors in others like the great pc game Darksun for mention one, in Eye of Beholder 1 you can take bones to the dwarf cleric to ress them into new characters. ANd writing about that, many evil characters must be resurrected by is minions, like the cleric that say "not in the face" or other important ppl. Maybe killing in some nasty way stop them for being resurrected, I dont remember right now the rules, last time I master a game was 25 or more years ago. I sneak into the temple with a party level 5, and recruiting powerful ppl like the prince and the druid (need 1 level druid to one of my chars but is worth the level loss) after near complete the temple I suggest some changes here, like harder fights to release these chars and more difficult recruit for the hill giant with the crossbow, this is my 1 party and cant believe how far I can go with my low level chars. Hope my english is good enough to no offend anybody with misunderstandings Again: Great mod.
Thanks for the compliments. Regarding the gnoll caravan, all the dead people there are just scenery objects except the woman, so they don't behave like regular mobs. I'm surprised you can't resurrect the woman actually, but even if you did, there would just be confusing results. In order to cover every possible direction a player might take, you'd have to do a lot of scripting. Tons. So much that it is prohibitive. Being as many of these scenarios you run into are primarily story elements (e.g. the woman is meant to die and be dead), there is not often much point, and the resources potentially used toward those ends can be put to much better use. Glad you're enjoying the game.
I say KILL'EM! Later in the game when you're re-discovering the moathouse you may just find a surprise in their room.
This might be the goodplace to start discussing the issue about Kobort. Kobort when 'reincarnated' in Jaroo's place [Kobort disappears, retains the blue circle] but when 'resurrected' in Terjon's place [Kobort successfully resurrects with no issues]. I've already inspected and modified the converse script of Jaroo so he will cast the 'raise dead' spell thus I'm aware that he is primarily a Druid and of course in ToEE sense will not work, but I override it so even all else he casted it all along but still the issue is there. What might be the problem Gaear? I've thought about the possible culprits and they are: Spell animation, Casting time, NPC scale [Kobort], The hidden bears, The place itself [Jaroo's place], A bug. :shrugno:
Jaroo should not be able to cast resurrect, he's a Druid and should be casting reincarnation. Was this switched so he could fix the spell permanency thing?
@Sirchet I have no installation of ToEE in my computer right now so I can't confirm it for you, but I know I know that till now it hasn't been replaced by raise dead spell. :errf: Edit: Yep he can't, but I did force him [modified some files] and thus have the same result on Kobort. I don't know much 'bout the S.P. thing but does it apply to Terjon as well?
