Ranged touch spells almost always miss!

It seems my ranged touch spells miss way too much!!!

EXAMPLES=Lev 0 anti undead frost and the acid spells and also melfs acid arrow and scourching ray.

Do i need my mage and sorc to have a high dex or something, They have absolutly no armor and the mage has 12dex 18 int 13 wis 12 cha and the sorc has 12dex 16int 16wis and 18 cha.

Im begging to think that even knowing and in the mages case readying these spells is a waste.

Magic missle is my only reliable source of ranged dmg for them.

I also got a demonic figurene from the Emrity meadow cache (st cuthbert temple quest), is it giving me bad luck or something?

 

Wizards suffer the same penalties with ranged attacks as missle weapons. have your wizards and sorcerers take the precise shot and point blank shot feats and they will hit more.

 

O damn thats a let down, my mage.... well my conjurers feats are augment summon,and conjuration specialization and craft wonderful item and next one i want him to get craft weapon/armor. so i guess ill keep this in mind for the future.

Holy crap. I honestly never thought of using those feats to improve ranged touch attacks. I had good success with a high DEX, but now.... he he he!!!!

 

Point blank shot adds 1 point of damage. Not much, but is for free

And don't forget about True Strike spell!

 

Why is everyone so crazy about True Strike? Don't you have to wait for the next round to use it? I'd rather use that spell slot for Magic Missiles

 

C'mon Basil, it's not so bad. No one's "crazy" about True Strike. It's just that we want you to belong to the True Strike club. Everyone's joining in. Your friends, family, all of us! It's for the good of all people.

True strike, in the correct build, is utterly brutal also.

I seem to remember one of my Gish characters true striking, and then dropping his whole BAB into power attack, and landing ridiculous amounts of damage on the balor, greater demons, (otherwise hard to hit bad guys).

It's really not a bad spell. +20 is pretty dramatic, even though it takes a turn to set up and only lasts one round. I do believe it applies to all your iterative attacks though so...

 

forgot about the weapon focus (ray) feat also.
