This post is just a placeholder for this thread/topic. We need to review and bring into 3.5e compliance all stats for Co8-added weapons in ToEE.
Ok. This it's easy, actually. Unfortunately, i don't have much free time (i still have a HUGE load of work to do, just with the graphical stuff) to look thru protos and longdescriptions.mes. So, here's an idea: I'll look in the descriptions.mes, and make it a list with the damage, critical, weight etc., an someone then could use that to fix the protos and the longdescriptions.mes I have fixed what i've found wrong in my protos, but it's so heavily modded in others aspects that i would be useless. I have almost every book t'ill PHB/DMG II, so i can make it strictly RAW. Of course, this will be only for existent items, not for custom ones like corset, tatoos etc...
I hate to divert you from your other projects, HK. But if you think this wouldn't take that long, you could just post up your list from description.mes here and leave it for whomever might come along to get it eventually. The way to go.
Nah, it wouldn't take time, just a notepad file. Something like: Code: name (proficiency) // damage // critical Longsword (martial) // 1d8 S // 19-20 x2 Saber (martial-longsword) // 1d8 S // 19-20 x2 Tetsubo (simple-greatclub) // 1d10 B // 20 x2 Handcrossbow (exotic) // 1d4 P // 19-20 x2 Besides, i don't have memory for monster abilities and/or prestige classes cos i almost never used them in my pnp sessions (i have a non-magical, non-prestige party), but i remember almost any weapon or trinket that crossed my path (my group loves to buy or loot anything that crosses their path), but i'll check the boks still, just to be sure.
What about price? Not that I am suggesting H_K has to do that too, but it is one area where the new stuff is probably way off - I know everything I added had guessed-at rather than carefully calculated prices.
Humm For the normal stuff (katanas, mithral armor, heavy saber, etc) there should be no problem, since it will be in the books. But the price of something that grants +10 con, +5 mov silently, etc like the ninja's outfit, not only it would be prohibitive to buy, but no merchant could be able to buy it! the price could be calculated (more or less), but frankly, i doubt that something that grants that kind of quantity/amount of bonuses it's something that the rules would accept. What i can do, it's write down in the list a suggested new balanced version, instead of listing a price. Or leave those items as unique items; you find only one in the game, and thru a quest or as loot, and no merchant would buy/sell. That will limit the players that get their hands on something outrageously powerful and sell it for tons of money. Which merchant would buy Fragarach/Scather?? Otis would be suspicious, but i don't think he have enough gold, and Terjon or Calmert probably try to confiscate it. Bro Smith, a humble apprentice of Druid, would have the amount of cash to buy something like that? Not to mention jaroo, a Druid devoted to charity. prices should be balanced (nothing hard), but you might also make some items impossible to sell. How many players say "bah, i sell Fragarach, and with the gold buy bracers of armor, a +3 full plate, a cloack of invisibility, two necklaces for my wizards, and i have money enough to take a turn with jenelda". That's one of the things that it's unbalancing the game, not the new content per se.
LOL. :evil_laug That's all very sensible, HK. I agree that no merchants in ToEE (except maybe in Verbobonc) would be able to afford the really high cost items, and as you say, most of them wouldn't buy the sensative ones for whatever reason either. So if you'd like to recommend some be set to "I do not want to buy that from you," (which I think would be the simplest thing to do) I'm all for that. You're probably right about the economy affecting balance too, so I say go for it.
Brother Smyth is selling Masterwork Gladiator Armor which has some stats as if Mithril (no weight change). If that was the intention then a name change is in order.
Would it be possible to have a separate item for the off-hand part of a double weapon. So, for example, there could be an item called "off-hand Quarterstaff" which could be equipped with its own stats and enhancement potential. Do we have the capability of equipping this item while the double-weapon is equipped? Could it take the buckler slot?
