For some reason my quest log doesnt update properly. It will flash when I get a quest from someone but the quest doesnt show up in my log and I can not procede at all. It wouldnt even update the opening quest to deliver Y'Dey's broach to Terjon as completed. The first time I completed the game the only patch I had installed was patch 3 (the XP fix) but it was still really buggy so i tried to install patch two and three and thats when the trouble started. Is there a fix for this or should I just play with patch 3 and suffer through the bugs?
Ummm patch 2 & 3 are seperate, not cumulative: 3 only fixes 1 thing, 2 fixes many things etc... i play with 1 & 2 installed though whether they r cumulative seems to be a matter of debate. Just go to one of the threads marked 'patching' or something (there's one or two posted by Morpheus) and follow the instructions, u really want the C08 and Liv's stuff.
OK I reinstalled everything again using only patch 1, 2, Co8, and Livs...still wont update my quest log...I find Y'Dey...get the quest to return the broach but when I do it wont complete the quest nor will it give me the new quests from Terjon even though the log is flashing at me...the broach quest remains "accepted" and no new ones are listed...I saved my old characters...should i reinstall again and only use new characters? This is frustrating!
Much strangeness. Try to start another quest not based on Terjon. And see what happens. Try using the premade characters and see what happens using them. It could be an issue with you using the old characters (unlikely) but worth a punt. I've never heard of a bug like this but will go hunting for more possibilities later.
Are you using an npc to speak with the character that gives you the quest? That will cause your log book to fail to update quests.
I don't think you can use an NPC to speak to other NPCs. However, having an NPC in your party leader slot (the far left) will prevent the log book from updating.
