Hi everyone - Do you working maybe on adding some prestige class to the mod/game like "Kensai" or "Assasin". I know that adding class option in character creation menu would be difficult but f.e. through console- Is that would be possible?

Some of the modders here did work on prestige classes.
ShingTed says that all we would need is a placeholder for
a prestige class in the class selection window and the rest
would have to be scripted. It seems that the only thing that
stops us from having a prestige class is the lack of this
    placeholder.

Have you consider maybe adding prestige class through console command (f.e. write some command which could skip class selecting window)

Well, I am personally of the opinion that if we could add an extra class called "prestige class", we could then script all the abilities for at least some of the classes and attach them through something similar to the monk's belt. Thats how I would do it - others might do it very differently. But I think you need the seperate class to levelup etc. Bradrinwi tried to hack the dll to create an extra class, but after making some progress it drove him mad and he was never seen here again.

The game allegedly recognises certain prestige classes but as with the sub-races, they are not implemented in any way.

well if prestige classes are possible - just the menu is the stumbling block, would it be possible to do something roundabout like making character creation through dialogue or something and then assigning points etc in-game?

An NPC custom-made on the fly? Well, I guess... yes, I do believe we have the technology :) but prestige classes have to be achieved: its where u take ur existing PC. Or did u mean destroy the PC and spontatneously replace it with an appropriate NPC?

Good lord, sir, that might just work... hmmm...

Is it possible to add prestige classes in similar way like portaits?- I mean thare are 11 small windows for base classes and one of them could used for the time you want to level up in pres. class and than the window could replaced with the "old" class.

Well, essentially you'd want to have a PC made anyway - as that way you could copy height/hair etc. But even if you wanted to create a new base-class, you could create a PC and simply convert those minor characteristics to a new one right?

(I really have no idea what is possible here, just trying to think outside the box)

eg. if you wanted new base-classes you create a party at the beginning of your game; then on the 'shopmap' there could be an extra npc who lets you convert existing lvl 1 base class chars to a new base class that is part of the SRD or whatever splatbook (psion, warlock, whatever)

Later on, there could be specialist trainer npcs that allow you to do the same but with prestige classes etc.

Of course, then levelling up might be an issue later on as well, but would your idea of 'prestige' option in the menu work in that case? Mixing multiple PrCs would need extra support obviously, perhaps to set your 'prestige' button to advance the class you wanted, you would have to talk to your special trainer person :D

    buahahaha :)

I would love to see prestige classes. Is it possible to have this "trainer" check for required feats and skill levels.

I was thinking of a condition that the character has to be in the "level-up state"
to be able to go and talk to the prestige class trainer. If it's doable, then it's the
only reasonable way IMO. Unless we get a Prestige Class Placeholder in the character
    creation window.

Pretty much all of what is being suggested is doable, yes: and a 'trainer' is indeed the path I would take. The problem is when u level up as, say, a bard, when u r meant to be taking your first level as an arcane archer (or whatever). Adding the new skills would be complicated enough without having to 'remove' (or ignore) the subsequent skills that would be picked uop by leveling up in the 'wrong' class: plus, your character sheet would say 'level 9 bard' rather than 'level 8 bard / 1 prestige' which would be annoying. These things aren't insurmountable, but there is a point u have to get past otherwise it all feels like a cheap hack. Imho (and this is just me) to be able to level up as a seperate prestige class is that point.

from what I recall on the subject - mostly through IRC chat with bradrinwi as he didn't seem to post to much on the subject - I don't think its particularly doable

O absolutely - the seperate class to level-up is a .dll hack all the way. Its the adding of class skills, feats, etc that can be scripted.

One more thing about scripting class abilities.
Do monks get the profits they should get without
having to wear the monk's belt?

You'd have to ask the maker (or do a search) but no, I don't think so - not at higher levels. I tihnk that was the point.
