Ok, I was reading some of the threads on here and had this strange random idea. I know it probably wont be possible, and it will probably never be done, but what if ToEE was an MMO Would you play it?
Loving both MMOs and ToEE I have thought about this a lot. The problem is implementing turn based systems into a world of random AFKs. One potential solution would be to limit turns to 10-15 seconds. Monsters (mobs) would go pretty much instantaneously, but players would get at least a little time to decide. If you do this though you would either have to limit turn based play to a specific area around the center of the conflict (problematic for people running through) or lock encounters between only the 1 party and set of monsters (many MMO players don't like these kinds of restrictions). Another solution I have ever come up with would be to treat turns as 5 - 10 second blocks where all parties involved would get a few seconds to determine their actions for the next round. Then at the end of the decisioning phase there would be an action phase where everyone's actions took place simultaniously. However it was done, I think this could be awesome, but it would very definitely be a niche game.
I played an MMO called Wonderland Online, its basically a traditional RPG style game but you can play with other people, they gave your character a 10 - 15 second delay. So, its possible.
Maybe not MMO but I'd like to be able to play online with others. For instance, play something similar to ToEE but play just one of the characters and have the other characters played by other players over the internet. Maybe there could be a central hub where you could meet people and form parties etc. There could be an inn, a market/shops, guilds etc. where groups could form up before moving on to v.s the computer quests.
