There's a free online action RPG computer game called Path of Exile. It is a Diablo 3 clone with the following differences:

The game is completely free! There is no pay-to-win scheme.

There is no currency in the game. The only way that you can obtain items from NPC vendors is by trading items with them.

Although the game has 6 character classes, there aren't really any "classes" so to speak. Each "class" starts in a different spot in the skill tree, starts with different atttribute values, and has different gems on offer as rewards for completing quests. Those are the ONLY differences between classes (aside from the different appearance of each character class).

Marauder (Strength specialist) (male) (Strength 30, Dexterity 14, Intelligence 14)

Ranger (Dexterity specialist) (female) (Strength 14, Dexterity 30, Intelligence 14)

Witch (Intelligence specialist) (female) (Strength 14, Dexterity 14, Intelligence 30)

Duelist (Strength/Dexterity hybrid) (male) (Strength 22, Dexterity 22, Intelligence 14)

Templar (Strength/Intelligence hybrid) (male) (Strength 22, Dexterity 14, Intelligence 22)

Shadow (Dexterity/Intelligence hybrid) (male) (Strength 14, Dexterity 22, Intelligence 22)

Any class can use ANY item provided that they meet the experience level requirement and attribute value requirement for the item.

    +10 Strength = +5 Life
    +10 Strength = +2% Melee Physical Damage

    +10 Dexterity = +20 Accuracy
    +10 Dexterity = +2% Evasion

    +10 Intelligence = +5 Mana
    +10 Intelligence = +2% Energy Shield

Energy Shield is a force field that absorbs damage (that the character would normally take from opponents) until the shield is depleted. The Energy Shield recharges over time.

There are 3 types of damage in the game: Physical, Elemental (Fire, Cold, Lightning), Chaos (includes poison damage).

Chaos damage ignores (i.e. bypasses) Energy Shields (unless you select the passive skill Chaos Innoculation).

You get 1 passive skill point each time you level up.

The maximum experience level is level 100.

The passive skill tree consists of 1350 passive skills.

There are 5 slots for either life flasks or mana flasks. Whenever you place a flask in one of these slots, it starts out empty. These flasks only refill a little bit each time that you kill an enemy.

Using skills uses up mana. Skills are either spells or unique weapon abilities due to a particular gem that has been socketed in ANY equipped item.

There are 3 different colours of gems and sockets in items:

    Red gems (Strength skills)

    Green gems (Dexterity skills)

    Blue gems (Intelligence skills)

You can only insert a red gem in a red socket, a blue gem in a blue socket, and a green gem in a green socket.

There are about 23 different skill gems of each of the 3 different colours (which each provide a unique skill or spell that can be used when the gem is socketed in an equipped item).

The only way that you can obtain gems is by being lucky enough to have them drop as random loot on slain opponents, or sometimes you can choose 1 gem from a select few on offer (the selection on offer is determined by your class) when you complete a quest, or you can trade for them with other players.

Gems can be removed from sockets for free and at any time that you want.

Gems that are socketed in equipped items gain XP and level up as your character gains XP (making them more powerful the higher their level).

Items have a maximum possible number of sockets:

1-hand weapons and shields (3 sockets)

    most armour pieces (4 sockets)

    2-hand weapons (6 sockets)

    high-end body armour (6 sockets)

There are 2 types of gems:

    Skill Gems

    Support Gems

Sockets can be linked. Linked sockets allow you to use support gems. You insert a skill gem in 1 socket, and you insert a support gem in a linked socket (which boosts the power of the skill). Provided that the item has enough linked sockets, you can have as many support gems as you want boosting a skill gem.

All of your different characters share a common stash (chest), so you can easily swap items from 1 of your characters to any other of your characters.

Spell Damage is elemental (fire/cold/lightning) damage from spells that are cast. Wands always provide a percentage bonus to spell damage.

Elemental Damage is elemental (fire/cold/lightning) damage from weapons. Sceptres always provide a percentage bonus to elemental damage.

You identify magical items by using a Scroll of Wisdom on them. You will always be running short of these scrolls, so you will need to sell Orbs of Transmutation and/or Orbs of Alteration to NPC vendors in exchange for lots of Scrolls of Wisdom.

Naming your characters is 1 of the most annoying aspects of the game because nearly every conceivable name has already been taken. You WILL spend a long time trying to find a name for your character that hasn't already been used by somebody else! (hence the crap names of my characters)

There are 3 different difficulty settings. You have to play the game on "Normal" difficulty first. Once you've completed the Normal game, you unlock the next difficulty setting. One of the differences between the difficulty modes is that you don't lose XP when you die on "Normal" difficulty, but you lose XP when when you die on the 2 harder difficulty game modes.

There are 3 different game modes:

    Default

    Hardcore

timed race event (to see who can reach the highest experience level in a certain period of time (usually a few hours or a few days)).

The game is primarily a coop game, but PvP is available by talking to the NPC vendor who sells weapons and armour and selecting PvP in the list of choices.

You can see and interact with all other players on the server when players' characters are in the towns, but when you enter a map outside of a town, it becomes an instanced map that only your character can interact with (unless you play in a group with other players).

Green areas on your local map indicate important quest-related areas.

The maps are all randomly generated.

Maps reset after no players have been on the map for 8 to 15 minutes.

Toggle the Tab key to show/hide your local map

Toggle the Z key to show/hide item names

Toggle the U key to show/hide your world map

Toggle the X key to switch between weapon set 1 and weapon set 2.

In order to play the game single-player, you need to be logged into a game server.

There are 3 different servers: America, Europe, Singapore.

    I'm on the Singapore server.

I think that my player ID is "gazra".

    I have the following characters:

    Rorder (level 39 Marauder)

    Longbowoman (level 24 Ranger)

    Enerjee (level 17 Witch)

    Phenser (level 11 Duelist)

    Thealer (level 2 Templar)

    Hadoe (level 2 Shadow)

I hope to play the game co-op with you soon.

    Hey gazra,

It looks kind of fun, but have you read this? Hacked Accounts

Not sure if it's still an issue, but better safe than sorry.
