Yes, what the hell?! No pregenerated characters for me in the party pool window. It even keeps being empty after I created my own character! Nothing to choose from.

*sigh* This game... it keeps me from playing for a long time already I feel like back in the good old days of trying to persuade DOS...

I checked the appropiate players-folder in the modules folder. The characters are there, the pregenerated as well as my newly created! They just wont show in the game. Im sure this is some kind of windows you-dont-have-the-rights crap. But actually the whole Temple folder and subfolders in the GOG folder have maximum rights for the "User" user. Any ideas?

What alignment did you choose for your party? Do you have "hide incompatible alignments" checked? Or maybe "hide pregenerated"?

Yes, these are quite obvious questions. Hide pregenerated and hide inc. alignments are left unchecked. I even tried with both of them checked which resulted in the list still being empty (of course). The party is Neutral Good and the first character I created is a paladin so yeah, he should appear on the list.

Together with all the other pregenerated characters which corresponding .toeepc files I see in the players folder. Only the game doesnt see them. I checked the Shortcut for the frontend and see whether the "Start in" form was filled correctly. Yup, "D:\GOG\the_temple_of_elemental_evil\Temple of Elemental Evil"- so any path should point to the right files.

Edit: I just realized something. The icon for the TFE-X.exe isnt showing. Instead the default windows placeholder is used. Both for the shortcut on the desktop as well as the actual exe in the folder. If you go into both their properties the icon is showing though. This is so odd.

I uninstalled both co8 and the game itself then I reintsalled them. Good news - it is working now. Im seeing the pregenerated characters as well as my own and was able to watch my party pop up in the beginner's shop. All is well.

Glad to hear it! As Gaear has said elsewhere, sometimes TOEE is just flaky.
