Thanks, gentlemen. I'm going to see if I can figure out whether there's anything up with my keyboard and also make sure I'm not running it in windowed mode. The game ended up freezing on me just after I loaded saved games, so I'm going to reinstall first, I think. Edit: reinstalling worked but probably not because the initial installation was messed up. Rather, I discovered that I had installed the game in a folder titled "Temple of Elemental Evil" in my C:Temple of Elemental Evil folder. Like a freaking Russian nesting doll is how I installed it apparently. Regardless, console works and I'm having a better time with an extra level against Dire Bats and Wererats. In sum, thanks very much.
Everything was working so well and then I hit the Spoiler ambush after "finding" the jade necklace encounter on my way to the Rivermist Inn and once I won that battle I tried to loot the corpses of my enemies and they are not interactable. I rested a few times to see if I could pick up the loot after the bodies disappeared, leaving just the gear/gold etc. on the map but no. Still no way to pick anything up. I vaguely recall this being an issue discussed somewhere in the thread but I can't find it after re-reading around 20 pages and using the search function. I'm guessing I screwed something up with the console and will have to revert to an earlier save or just restart again. On another topic: has anyone heard from Marc about how development is going or whether he's thought about releasing another version of the module with just the fixes he's implemented and discussed here? Reading back through this thread I was impressed yet again by how much work and thought he put into making Paladin's Cove. It's such an incredible accomplishment that it'd be a shame if it wasn't completed.
The issue with looting dead enemies appears to now be an inability to interact with anything directly. I reloaded from a much earlier save and went through most of the village quests to gain some levels. I left town again after messing with Todd in the Inn and got the encounter again. Still could not loot but I decided to see if it was only that battle because while I don't remember what was dropped I know it wasn't worth going through the two or three hours I'd need to try again. Torv died in that battle so I used the map to get back to PC and then discovered I couldn't interact with guards to get "directed" to the temple of Rao. So I used the "talk" command on a stationary guard, got to the temple and that's when I realized I could not enter the temple because I could not interact with the door. FWIW this is a clean install with only the GoG version, C08 additional content and Paladin's Cove. No Temple+ this time. I think I'm going to take a break from PC again for a while . Hopefully Marc will release the next iteration before too long and I'll have a good reason to dive back in from the start.
Marc made it clear he will not be around much, and will work at his own pace. Hopefully he is ok, but otherwise, we have to be patient, keeping in mind he promised a v1.0 for many years, and DID deliver.
