Paladin smite evil broken?

i am running a paladin for the first time. When i hit the smite evil i use up all my turn and nothing seams to happen. I have had clerics with smite evil and they normally say something dramatic then hit the monster. is something broken with the paladin?

 

Put your curser on the evil foe, right click and choose "smite evil" you should then perform an attack with the proper bonuses.

You can also check the die roll window to see if a smite was performed.

in fact... i was going to kill ius.. just 1 one more turn before cuthbert comes.. ius still got 15/750 hp.. and its my paladin turn...just before iuz... i saved the game and try hit ius... always miss... even its hit ius take no damage... in about my 30++ load game..im thinking of smite evil... and BLAST !!! IUS IS DEATH hahahahahaha
