So not sure if this a temple+ thing, a Co8 new content, or original game item I never discovered. The letter is to Otis's Mom and mentions a female bard. Might she be Zaxis's sister of just some random person? also it refers to his Uncle. Is this Uncle ever revealed or again a one off thing?

    Anyone have any answers?

Isn't Zaxis' sister a sorceror? Other than that, I have no insight, except to say that the original module was pretty light on detail, so I can't imagine it giving Otis a letter to his mum beyond commenting that he's still in contact with his parents in Hommlet.

Now that you mention it, I think your right about the sister being a sorceress.

So just another random trivia not I guess.

    Did you
A long time ago @Shiningted and others in the team created the Desperate Housewives mod which made the Fedex quests in Hommlet a lot funnier. The quests began with Elmo's mother and the finale included recycled dialogs of Otis and Elmo with their uncle. I am not aware of the uncle being used in any other versions from Co8. I concur that Zaxxis' sister was a sorceress. I'm 99% certain not a bard, but it is possible her class was not mentioned at all. Was she wearing "sorcerer garb"?

Ah I missed out ofthe desperate housewives mod. I did hear good things about it. Perhaps one day some energetic person will revamp and bring it back.

Thanks for that clue and info.

Ah, wait, my mistake. I think it might have been Sitra Achara's early Reactive Temple mod. I forget which it was because I put both mods together - very cool!

Well wherever and whomever created things, the trivia of TOEE lives on.

It's neither Reactive Temple nor Temple+.

    Welcome back Basil.

Apologies for my absence, my desktop computer died. $400+ to recover the HDD, there's a lesson in that somewhere.

The letter in Otis' place is indeed an element of Desperate Housewives, added by myself. The female bard mentioned was the legendary Gwenno FitzOwen, whom you could encounter on the road. She could be talked into giving you a sonic crossbow named Iolo's Joy.

Desperate Housewives was removed by Co8 5 or so but the letter, I am very happy to say, survived.

Thank you very much for the reply and the trivia. I found Co8 after Desperate Housewives but recall reading several posts about it. Was there a reason it was never added back in later editions?

Yes. It was silly. Very silly. Plus, it didn't really gel with the rest of the mod, being essentially some Ultima-themed nonsense. It was only ever meant to be an optional bit of nonsense that got rolled into the main mod briefly due to circumstance.

It did its job though: it took all the breakthroughs by Liv and Dulcaion and Jota and the other early modders and used them to prove that we were advanced enough to create a whole new module. (We really weren't, that still needed sectoring, but ToEEWB provided that, plus it allowed things we previously did by scripting, like adding new, well, everything, to be done properly with mobs and such). So I like to think it laid the groundwork for KotB and everything that came after, though it may not have seemed like it at the time.

Ok cool. Really interesting it helped to bridge things to later develop and expand the game. Sometimes things get shifted through the strainer to bring out a better product.

Thanks to all old and new programmers and modders who put in their time and efforts. Much appreciated and full respect to you all.

Speaking of Otis & Elmo, on my last playthrough, they didn't say squat to each other when I interacted with Otis for the first time in Nulb. I could SWEAR the two had a handful of lines together.

They had a brief conversation when I had Elmo and encountered Otis at his shop. But otherwise, they ignored each other. I think Elmo's drinking pissed of Otis

    Welcome back Keolander!

I'll try to test this, but it may take a few days.
