    If you want the choice to make Elmo sober when he first joins up than you can now have that choice here
    I do believe, from all indications, that what is included with this mini-release is the latest protos.tab + weapon names added (aside, obviously, from Kalshane's effort.) As I understand his effort, he is adding nothing new to the protos, but once he is done I think we should have some protocol ready to add our changes . I am waiting until he's done to make an official release of the protos with all names (ie column 22)(0 based)) assigned.(btw if you have a non standard protos which you are using for tests or some such and want all the names assigned now you can pm for e-mail details and then send me the protos and I will send you back a "named" version.)

    I am just trying to be careful. I keep having this nightmare of 27,000 different protos and the search for the real one.....

    Also I keep having this nightmare of the C08 manager and having to submit every change to her.. We have struggled along thus far without such a thing and so long as we can keep it at peer to peer level the better.

    Well, it may come to that, and (if he would accept) Gaear would be my choice as well. But we are not a production shop, where major changes are taking place everyday, so the necessity of a manager is not so clear.

    He'd be less the "walkin' boss" & more the "task manager"; his ability to remember who's doing what with what & what they said about it is well known. Kinda keeps the goals out in front where people here can see them; a motivator.

    You know Lord_spike, you are right as always. You are not only a kicker of shit but a major motivator yourself.Okay, with two votes already in favour, Gaear, since in a large part you are already doing the job, would you please consider being the manager of this ragtag team?. Your duties will be as determined (by yourself primarily) but as required by the modding team from time to time. You would have the final say in what goes towards an official release and would have to put up with our whining etc. You would be the final tester before an official release (unless you can delegate the job) and you would be the last one to sign off on any official release. I might have voted Shiningted for this but he is too busy with KOTB to also take on this responsiblity.And anyway you seem more likley to be able to handle the job

    Well I certainly appreciate your consideration, but is this really such a good idea? One guy having ultimate authority over everything could lead to some weird situations. For example, let's say Allyx spends 4 months working on his Verbobonc mod and when it's done I decide I don't like it for whatever reason. BLAMO! (to quote krunch) it's gone, and Allyx's 4 months of work is in the crapper. Wouldn't a congress be better in this regard than a lone chief executive?

    Also, if we're going to go to the extent of somewhat formally assigning this position, we should probably get clearance from the powers that be, which as near as I can tell would currently be:

    Sol Invictus (site owner and administrator)
    Morpheus (administrator)
    Agetian (super moderator)
    Shiningted (moderator)

    And lastly, we might want to 'elect' this person via poll. I can think of others who would be well-suited to the job, Cerulean and Morpheus to name a couple.

    Sorry if I'm over-analyzing this. If you guys just want me to be the guy who informally tries to keep track of things, I'm fine with that.

    Gaear I've already spent more than 6 months on it (on and off - but more off than on) and i'll be spending at least most of this month on it.

    Gaear, I already had that job for Co8 4.0.0. Well, me and Morpheus. I was kind of expecting someone to try and give it to me again. Not that I minded doing it (except for the damned Read Me that no on seems to read). The reason people accepted me doing it (other than the fact that I was the only one who volunteered - I hope that wasn't the only reason) was that they knew I would not exercise such absolute authority (except in the case of Allyx's new spells, which just showed up too late to make it in - I still feel bad about that Allyx) We know you won't either, at least not without talking it over with the group.

    Anyway, keeping track of things is mostly what we are talking about (I think), and you already have a thread you are doing that in. Allyx is doing a good job of integrating things, but we all know how he hates to take notes, so someone has got to make sure he hasn't forgotten anything. Morpheus is bogged down in his work lately, and I have had my head buried in portrait.mes and python code ever since 4.0.0 came out, so that just leaves you. I don't think this should be an official position. You just seem to me the go to guy right now when it comes to post 4.0.0 mods (what they are and whatnot).

    And I really was joking when I nominated you.:D

    Blue did a fine job before; I'm sure he'll continue in that same vein if re-selected. Darmagon'd do well, too. I knew it was a joke when Blue posted it, but there's a grain...well, 2 grains...of truth in it..okay, maybe 3:

    1. Gaear's a good choice;
    2. Darmagon's a good choice;
    3. Blue's a good choice even tho he's trying to give the job away.

    No one would have absolute authority, so to speak...they'd just maybe encourage progress & keep things moving. Authority is still vested in the community leaders of old, with input from the new guard of modders & such to back it up.

    I'd offer my services as 'shit kicker' if they were needed, but that hasn't been my most endearing quality of late...
