Hi I have crafted Inspect ability, currently without Knowledge checks, which displays Monster information. Although it has been done mostly for Designer debug helping tool, it also can be used as PHB RAW ability. This is TemplePlus only feature. Taking into account, that Knowledge is missing from the ToEE, the check will only be available in ZMOD games (Cormyr (in dev), A Dark and Stormy Knight (finished, needs alterations), The Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde (in dev)). Only Dungeoneering Knowledge will be used. Inspect will be free action check, which will show following information: If Knowledge check is less than DC = 10 + CR, then it failed. If check is more or equal than DC = 10 + CR then: HD Immunities type and subtype energy resistances If check is more or equal than DC = 10 + CR + 5 then: Alignment Initiative AC damage reduction Fort, Ref, Will Abilities Weapon and attack Base Attack If check is more or equal than DC = 10 + CR + 10 then: Special Abilities Spells Extraordinary Abilities Feats This map is open to change. Please share your thoughts! BR, Anatoliy
In general I like the idea, I think the groups if information acquired should be rearranged to list most common knowledge in the first group and the hardest to acquire knowledge in the last group though. General info: DC 10+CR= Type and Subtype Alignment Weapon and Attack BAB Fort,Ref,Will AC Initiative (most likely moot as you'll probably be in combat with it already) Specific info: DC 10+CR+5= HD Damage Reduction Energy Resistances Immunities Feats Unique Info: DC 10+CR+10= Special Abilities Extraordinary Abilities Spells That said: If you just present a list of available information types, and allow 1 response per DC+5 increment the player can choose what the most useful info is at the time. Also note that the knowledge skills aren't present in ToEE, a blanket skill to perform an Inspection free action would not take into consideration the skill training a regular D&D character would have put into Knowledge: Arcana/Dungeoneering/Religion/Nature/Local/Engineering it might be worth considering adding a bonus equal to the Inspector's class level for appropriate skills (if those skills aren't going to be just added in normally). Wizard - Arcana Druid/Ranger - Nature Fighter - Engineering Rogue - Dungeoneering Bard - Local Cleric - Religion
Yeah I second this - I think things like Craft, Profession and Knowledge should be according to class.
