I know I have mentioned the game before, but I cannot find the thread. There is an interesting interview with Cryptic about the game. It comes with a level 10 cap http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-30-neverwinter-wonders-interview
Definetly sounds interesting. At least he's admitting they've done something wrong with their previous games. There seems to be an emerging vibe among some developers that tell people they "didn't get their games" when they're criticised. And he obviously understands that an MMO has to be *perfect* on launch or otherwise the playerbase won't stick. Regards, Storm
4th Ed just sucks. Seriously. DnD had a bit of a challenge to it, and yes, lost players to Magic the Gathering and other fast and loose card games. But it din't try to incorporate that style into DnD. Why does it think that trying to incorporate a MMO in to a PnP RPG would produce any good results? Ah, meh. They probably got excited when they stole Feats and other things from the Marvel RPG and it worked wonderfully. I liked 2.5, it was balanced. 3.0 and 3.5 was OK too, and with house rules upon a very, very few things was wonderful. But 4.0? I will not be trying the NWN.
I think 4ed is just much more suited for an online game than 3.5 Especially due to the nature of per-encounter powers. Seriously, the "resting" implementation of 3/3.5 RPGs was just awkward. Regards, Storm
Does that mean you are going to redo your engine recreation project from the beginning for 4th edition?
