    Hello Circle of 8

I have not tried installing any of your mod patches due to the problem I'm about to explain and hope to get help on.

I just freshly installed TOEE and it went smoothly. I even played the game for awhile, but whenever I exit the game and try to load it up again it just goes back to my desktop. It seems whenever the load bar goes into ''Initializing Sector Data'' it crashes. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling it again and it went smoothly like the first time, the game is fine yet whenever I exit and try to load it back the same problem occurs.

Now I have not installed ANY patches yet. So it could not be any of the patches that causes this.

I have Vista with Directx 10

Any help or advise would really be appreciated. I love this game like you guys do so you could understand my frustration.

The basic or "vanilla" ToEE is horrifically bug rudden. If you're playing it without the patches, it could be any number of things.

The people here at Co8 have put together some AMAZING mods and fixes that make ToEE even more stable and infinitely more enjoyable. Take ome time and looke through this site, especially the downloads sections, ToEE bug lists, and anyting else you can think of ToEE related. Their instructions are detailed and the help here is without match!

Thanks for the replys guys, I really appreciate it.

I knew going into this game is like sticking your head into a beehive......there is gonna be a whole lotta bugs hahahahaha...ha...ha....ahem.

Anyways I didnt know this was a bug. I suspected it was my laptop's resolution or refresh rate or something. I just wanted to install it first then install the patches. I thought it was my system so I came here for more details.

thanks for giving me that link Idolon. It looks like you put in some time to help others and I appreciate that. I also use a 64 bit system. Right from the get go I noticed you mention Microsoft .Net Framework and what version you have. I assume I already have the same version but when I go and look for it, it doesnt pop up on my ''programs and features.''

Could that be it? Is there another way to check what .Net Framework you have other than the START > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS > PROGRAMS AND FEATURES?

Also, just a tid bit. I tried installing and playing the game on my main PC. The game loads fine, I exit out then try to boot it back and it goes smoothly so it really has to be my laptop.

Again, thanks for your time guys.

You mentioned you are using a laptop. is it a widescreen laptop by any chance? If so, you may want to check the thread that was recently stickied here about playing ToEE on widescreen monitors.

It is widescreen 15.4 with a native resolution of 1280x800. TOEE should be compatible with it.

    EDIT:

    Well this is embarrassing.....

I overlooked a key detail on Idolon's guide. I was looking at it and it dawned on me. I tried booting up the game using ''run as administrator'' and it booted fine. It makes sense now. So yea....it works now. Dam Vista.

I apologize to any inconvenience that my mind fart has caused to any of you. Thanks for trying to help my dumbass. Thanks Idolon for making that guide.

Thank you Sorry and Thank you

Dude, don't worry about it. I enjoyed doing it. It's a tough game to get working especially under Vista.
