Not sure where this message goes or not and I tried to search around for this problem... I just did a complete new install of ToEE and CoE mod 5.7.2 1) Upon starting the mod from the Front End the mouse will freeze up in the first 5 second. Not sure why, but even if I click into New Game it will still freeze up pretty quick. 2) Starting Front End from the Directory, it will not let me start by just clicking on it. It brings up a window that states that TFE-X is already running (I know it is not). I have to right click and then run as an administrator... I found this very odd. 3) When first running TFE-X it asked me if I wanted a short-cut on the Desktop, I said no, but is there any way to get one besides a standard cut - paste? Thanks Glad to be back trying to play the game, I've been away from it for a couple of years and am looking forward to ToEE with the new mod as well as getting to KotBL and others.
OK, I tried a total re-install. Still getting the freeze. I'm running Vista SP2, 2.33 Intel, 8G Ram 64 bit OS ATI Radeon HD 3450 w. driver version 8.513.1.1000 The Mouse is HID compliant driver version 6..6001.18 I tried putting the game into a windowed mode through the Front End Options... that just froze the whole window up, but I could still use the mouse.
Unless you remove the security settings you will have to run as administraitor. I also have Vista. But the freezing... May I suggest posting this in the ToEEFX discussion thread?
I've noticed this too and have a similar machine (Windows 7 x64, Radeon 4770) I solve it by: - Installing TOEE normally (patch1, patch2, co8 mod) - Starting the game with the Front End - Quickly exiting the game before the game locks up --> in order to create "toee.cfg" - Editing the values in "toee.cfg" with notepad video_width=xxxx (1680, 1440, etc) video_height=xxx (1050, 900, etc) - Start the game with Front End -> works normally More detailed instructions here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5903 Hopefully it'll work for you too.
