Modders Beware

I don't know how many people are following the GrandTheftAuto story but it's gone all the way to congress. The Dutch modder went way over in his hack and now the game companies are going to go paranoid over modder/hackers. Troika left out the brothel stuff to ensure the teen rating. A word to the wise for modders-watch what you're doing, especially anything having to do with women or of a sexual nature. At least wait until this latest firestorm blows over.

 

My basic gut feeling is the game company people who monitor the sites will be on the lookout for such things. Groups are calling for expanded control over games and content and the internet in general. I don't like the sound or looks of this new call for censorship. Who knows how far this will go?

The problem with GTA: San Andreas is that it's a relatively new game, and WalMart & Co. are gonna take it off the shelves now. That means a lot of lost revenue for Take 2.

If ToEE got an adult rating, it wouldn't make much difference because I doubt Atari is making heaps of money off it at the moment. On the contrary, it would probably make the game interesting again for some people. So who's willing to write a "Hot Coffee Mod" for ToEE? Shiningted's "There's Something About Mary" is a step in the right direction.

 

I don't think toee could even get a mature rating unless someone did do a serious rewrite of the brothel quests. Then I guess we'd find out if Atari/WotC really cares.

 

Yeah well i dunno if i've gotten since patching with mods or anything but i used to make sure to get it for fun. You just need to repeatedly hit on the girls in nulb and command them to like you.
