this is my first time playing this game. thanks to this forum, I was already able to get around the defective CD issue, thanks all. As I go through it, I've been reading the walkthroughs (on sorcerer's place) to make sure I haven't missed anything. I try not to read ahead, just to leave some challenge and surprise. So, after killing Lareth, and fighting off those spiders since I didn't accept his surrender, I exited out the side door to the dungeon. To my surprise, several of the NPCs I didn't take in the Inn of the Wench (turuko, Kobort, Zert) were there with some monsters. After some dialog, we got into a fight. looking back, I see no mention of that fight in the walkthroughs. It was late at night so I didn't quite understand what the dialog was all about. I don't remember having many options to manupulate the dialog. Was there anything interesting there that I missed? Needless to say, those NPCs aren't in the Inn anymore since I killed them dead.
The walkthru's at the other sites (GameBanshee, etc) were written for the original vanilla game and have never been updated. Co8 doesn't do walkthrus's but people post spoilers all the time. You can get all the help you need at this site, no problem.
so that fight versus the unwanted NPCs was a Co8 mod special? it was a good fight, I just missed out on the jist of the pre-fight dialog and was hoping for a recap. I'm not sure if I have a separate saved game from right before the fight. I probably over-writ it already
The encounter in question was a Co8 addition, and a pretty interesting one too. It also handled three NPCs that good-aligned parties would usually just ignore, and that after the moathouse's defeat had no reason to stay at the Inn of the Welcome Wench... Turuko, Zert and Kobort are three spies/agents of the ToEE. When the do-gooders meddle in their affairs, and eliminate Lareth, they decide to stop the party. Hence the encounter. The dialog goes along the line of 'you shoudn't have gotten involved, now we have to kill you.' Except that it is a lot more interesting.
It was a great fight, especially since it caught me by complete surprise. hopefully nobody that hasn't gone through the game is reading this (note "spoiler" above). After fighting Lareth, being low on hit points and spells, and encumbered with loot, it was a good fight. It's interesting too since I had poked my head out that tunnel before fighting the guards and Lareth and so no monsters there. Then to be attacked when coming out the second time was a shock. Well done Co8! I'll check out that other walkthrough shiningted, thanks.
