I'm running the 7.1.0 NC modpack. When I got to the moathouse battle with Lareth, I encountered the (what I believe to be) expected event where he comes out of his room to join the fray (and deliver a speech) after I killed a few of his minions. Things proceeded for a round or two, until I did something which seemed to break the eventing logic: I cast Charm Person on Lareth. Immediately, the combat ended and ALL of Lareth's minions disappeared (with a 'retreat' animation). Lareth did NOT, however, give me his "Lareth the Beautiful" speech. I wanted to experience that speech, but I also wanted to loot his stuff. I tried something novel: I had my party surround him, set everyone to deal nonlethal damage, and knocked him unconscious and then looted him. After that, I experienced a rather.. interesting scenario: He would wake up, go hostile, and immediately be knocked unconscious as soon as he took ANY damage (remember that you add lethal and nonlethal damage to determine unconsciousness). This was a bit frustrating, since I still wanted to get him to surrender.. which he doesn't do until he takes enough LETHAL damage, which I can't deliver to him without knocking him unconscious. I did not try dealing lethal damage to him while he was unconscious, since I feared that would cause the speech event to misfire because he would not be awake to deliver the speech. Eventually, I healed him to the point that I could get him to 'near death' with lethal damage and NOT go unconscious. He delivered the speech as desired- huzzah! Interestingly, he still offered me his golden chain, despite the fact that I had looted it from him when he was unconscious. I accepted it, but did not get a duplicate. I allowed him to escort me to the temple, but did NOT go through with the ambush- I was too banged up to deal with it. Instead, I went back to town. This caused Lareth to say "I can't go there, they'll kill me!" and depart despite my protestations. I have not seen him since- I have no idea if the new content involving Lareth will trigger. I DID encounter the assassin after I sold his boots to the traders; so there is that. Anyways- I had a lot of fun with this "bug", but I figured I'd report it in case anyone wanted to do something about it.
