I picked up Melany with the Holy longsword and kept her around cuz she fits well and rounds out my party. However all she has to fight with is a rusty dagger, and while I try to keep her out of melee she needs something better to defend herself with when she does get into close combat. So I had a long spear from a dead guy and put it into her backpack. It didn't turn red so I thought great now the enemy will have the pleasure of going up against the AOO nightmare long spear. A short time later I looked in her backpack.... no spear. :anger: What gives? Also what is the right amount of NPC's? Should I pickup Elmo or Zaxis cause I'm going to need them later or will I be able to finish with my five and Melany? Thanks
I would suggest the Humble NPC's patch- or the whole Co8 4.0.0 patch which includes it. I do suggest Elmo, but not Zaxis, you would regret taking him later. That's all I can say without SPOILING anything. But, yeah, Humble NPCs let you control their inventory.
Try equipping the weapon, not just leaving it in her pack. NPC's - you really don't need any to finish the game. They just add to the variety of things; and can add to your firepower as well. I've taken a liking to parties of four. But, to each their own. Usually, you can build a better party than assemble one from the characters found as you play.
The Humble NPC's comes in the COD 4.0 right? Or is it something separate I have to put in like the Desparate Housewives mod?
Humble NPCs is its own executable file in the parent folder for the ToEE game. It should be named (or something like) humble_npcs.exe. Before you start a ToEE game session, run the humble_npcs.exe file. * Hint: You can also run MaxHP_setup.exe, too. You should be able to guess what that one does. Then, I would suggest you clear the map cache when you are going to start a new game session. IMO - Actually, I would suggest running both of those executables and starting over with a new game for more max'd out fun.
