Last game I skipped all of Verbobonc, (7.4.1) So the encounter with said dragon this game was quite interesting. (7.5) Walking upon the scene with minimal buffs (in a LG party, 8-9th Lvl) Everyone but the Pal became frightened and ran for the hills. Leaving said pally to deal with said critter for the first round. The party did 343 pts of dmg by the end of the combat when ftr #2 (lgbw&gr swd) bit the dust as the last PC standing. End to credits. Fun
Thanks for reminding me. I forgot to mention that. The paladin's protection from fear ability should protect the group while they are in range, yet it doesn't. can that be fixed?
Not likely. I'm quite sure it's hardcoded. @Kilraven - glad you liked it. That's what people seemed to want.
Did they have a small marker on the top of their portrait? If you hover your mouse over the marker, (it's red I think) it should say what bonus effect it is, negatives are shown on the bottom.
Sirchet, All party members had the standard bonus flag from the Paladins presence. To be honest I just take it for granted and have never clicked on it to even see what its for. My PnP knowledge is 1st Ed. AD&D, undoubtably way out of date. Parties including Pallies are rather rare for me. Does anyone know of a medium level spell to help compensate for the dragons fear effect? I'd prefer not to block it completely, just 'soften' it a bit, a bonus to the save would work nicely. Gaear, Well, your skill set is as ever exemplary. (Including all the other modders)
1st edition AD&D weren't dwarves immune to dragon fear? Heroism and improved heroism, (wizard spells) can certainly help with the fear issue, also I believe there is a Bard's song that will boost your saves against fear.
We still won even with the fear effect, though it was a much tougher battle. Next time, my Cleric will have a remove fear spell ready.
Take a bard along and use bardsong inspire courage. In fact, I'm going to try using a Bard from the beginning in a future game. Just now I made a recruited npc into one.
