What does everyone think about making the ToEE FrontEnd Pro the standard format for mods? I think most of us (with the possible exception of ShiningTed, who is always slow to pick up on new tools :poke: ) are already using it, and it wouldn't be that difficult to get the rest, and newbies, up to speed on it. At least we could release mods in both versions.

"Hey maw, that there funny-lookin' blue guy is makin' fun o' me agin! Dagnabit."

I not only think it should be a standard, I think we should call it 'Toffee'. So much easier than ToEEFE. Of course, people may despise me for this suggestion <ducks the first tomatos> :eek:mg:

    PS Tools are for sissys.

I wish everything was available through 'toffee'. My game isn't patched / up-modded correctly for sure. It's a mess, to be completely honest. I get lag in Hommlet, and things don't appear when they should (example: gnoll skeletons in the meadow). I'm going to forego more playing until it's available with all the fixes...

I am thinking of posting a 'Toffee Pro' version of Liv's mod, and one of ShiningTed's mod (since it seems he never got around to it :poke:) with all the latest patches. May even through in Allyx's Shop Map mod, once I polish it up a bit (sorry Allyx, hope you don't mind :nervous: ). Pro is really the way to go, as it allows you to install and play mods without changing the ones you already have. You still have to import saved games between the moduals manually, but usually you want to start a new game when there is a new mod anyway.

That's actually quite a good idea - modding the mods, so to speak. It should help us along in our quest for consistency.

It IS definitely a good idea, and may i publically congratulate Cerulean on some of his efforts to keep things flowing smoothly (like making sure some of my stuff and Allyx's stuff matches).

Agetian and I discussed this a while back and we were sorta going to wait a bit because any new mod would assume a Toffee-friendly Co8 + Liv pack to start, and we felt we should at least get Liv's nod on repackaging her stuff (though I doubt she would mind). That waiting is seeming more fruitless every day alas, especially with no Morpheus to nudge to find things out. Hope he is ok.

My latest patch has been awaiting certain things: I am going to bite the bullet and launch it tonight or tomorrow now that Cujo's latest stuff is out (it will include it of course). At this stage it will NOT mesh with Allyx's shopmap but hopefully that will be taken care of within the next few days. (I haven't even released this patch and I am foreshadowing the next one  )

    O/T for a sec

He said he was going to be very busy with the ubiquitous "real life" distraction, but I tend to worry that these sabbaticals will turn into permanent leave, ala zhuge. I'm going to post a thread about this phenomenon one day when I gather my thoughts. It's rather fascinating to me.

Please carry on with the Toffee duscussion. :point:

@ Cerulean - I don't mind anything I have modded being updated/fixed/made compatible with other mods/or even nuked off the face of the earth!

@ Everyone - This is a modding community, - we're in this together, y'know? If my stuff fits with your stuff - we're building A mod AS A community, (kinda thought that was how it was meant to be!) and 'toffee' mods? :doublethu

I've zipped up my 'toffee' mod packs, I'll have to upload them later.

    Co8 3.0.4 +livonya's kids/traps mod +morpheus' arena of heroes + bonus items from me.

Livonya 1.5.1 + Got Rings? (the juggernaught fix is now included).

    Ted's_1.0.5 + Shop map 2.

All packaged up for frontend 3.
    Any objections? Suggestions?

Mmmm gimme another day so I can do a whole new upload of the mod (ie mod 1.0.6 rather than 1.0 + patches) so we don't have to worry about deleting files before adding stuff.

Is the 1.0.6 version the same as 1.0.5 just repackaged? Or is there extra stuff in there too? I only ask as the version I was going to upload was compiled from the co8 3.0.4, liv's 1.5.1, teds mod 1.0, patch 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3, 1.0.4, deleted the files as mentioed in the thread, patch 1.0.5, and then the shop map V2. Is that correct?

hmm ive done BG1&2 work both poaid and as a fan,, using weidu.. any chance or possiblity.. of the troika engine version of wesleys success?? each mod would need a string to follow and catalog the structure.. since there is no chtin.key file..
any effort in the works ?

This has already been discussed. If I had time to continue working on Toffee right now, I would have probably started doing something like that. Since I don't have time for that atm (unfortunately), maybe someone else will be willing to do the job (but it looks like there is no such person available at the moment). Also, ToEE has a lot of specifics that make it different from BG series of games - for example, the presence of MOB and SEC files that have a lot of intertwined globally unique identifiers and the use of strict limitations in the form of data banks (for protos.tab and other files) make it very tricky to combine the mods without conflicts and without running out of free space to combine them.
Combining two mods together is an even harder task in ToEE than in IE (believe me, I've been modding this game for over a year, so I know the score).
    Hope this helps.
