Making the Case for Larger Portraits

    I know this isn't something that really needs to be sold, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so ...

    Here's a 130 x 150 portrait from KotB, one of the 'Poser' portraits. I think it looks nice. 130 x 150 is the size of the 'big' portrait in ToEE, the one that is shown on the character screen for PCs. This is an NPC though, so the portrait will never be seen at this size in-game.

    Here's the 53 x 47 version, which will be seen in-game. Some sharpening's been applied to make the details a bit clearer.

    Here's the mini version, 42 x 37, which will be seen in-game at times as well.

    As you can see, the small and the mini have lost a lot of features and much of the original image's appeal. However, if we increase those sizes by even 50%, we get this:

    Small, now 80 x 70.

    And mini, now 63 x 55.

    A much greater measure of identity is preserved, particularly in the new small. But even the new mini is larger than the old small.
