I thought the 2.0.0 patch was supposed to make it so NPC's don't loot the good stuff. I got ambushed by the Frogkingofdeath up above Nulb and killed it after a tough battle. So I went to loot it and I see Serena and her sister Raina both loot stuff and when I check their inventory they stole a suit of elven chainmail and a magic ring, plus other less important stuff. Needless to say I was miffed. I tried everything I could think of to get it from them, but ended up having to kill them and loot the bodies. The story would end there if not for the fact I prefer keeping NPC's alive, just my preference. So, I figured after I identified magic items and went to the a shop and sold stuff I'd raise them. First, they end up selling all the crap I kept in their slots to try to stop them from looting. That is annoying because finding all those 1 pound items is difficult. Second, waiting several days to raise them, after resting once I discover the bodies have magically disappeared. Gone! No raise dead for you. In any event, this took place over about 4 to 5 hours of play and now I'm going to have to go back to a previous save game and go back to using just Elmo as an NPC. Is there a more updated patch to the looting issue and could someone provide the download link if it does exist? I have the official Troika patch and of course the latest co8 2.0 mod patch. Thanks
You'll need the looting fix coded by Shin to overcome the problem. Download it here: http://www.co8.org/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=4300 Unzip the file and overwrite your old protos.tab in the Temple of Elemental Evil/data folder with the newly downloaded protos.tab
Thanks, I'll try it out. I ended up getting Meleny in the group and of course she's looted herself to heavy encumbrance, but I've been using her just wandering from place to place to trigger random encounters to level her up. So far the only thing she seems to want to sell when going to a merchant is crossbows. Weird, but it worked. Hopefully we'll see more mods from you all.
