Has anyone run across the problem of trying to level up. I'm runningCO8 5.0.4 Only the rogue charcter is having the problem. When I press the button to select the feats game crashes. Is there a way to circumvent this or is ther a fix?:sadblinky
i had the same problem but it was only because i was running a hacked charachter and his stats were too high for me to assighn all his skill points because i had like a hundred at level up.this usually happens when any stat goes above 25-30 (base stat).if that iz not the problem then i think you might have a corrupted mod or game install and u should try to reinstall after uninstalling.
Are you running the game on windows98? There were reports of problems with levelling up rogues on Windows98. Could you try downloading Spellslinger's .dll fix 16.0.3 and see if that solves the problem? Well, theoretically 16.0.3 should be present in 5.0.4 (and I am quite convinced it is) but try that, if it doesn't help then... try making a new rogue at the Welcome Wench and level him up to the same level (for console commands see this thread.
I still have the same problem on Win98, even though it says the patch should have fixed this problem (and I'm running 5.0.4). Nowadays I just get around it by making my rogue take levels in other classes every 3rd character level (and never exceeding level 9).
Good call Maggit. Yes this is a Win98 issue (or an issue with Spellslinger's .dll in Win98) that he certainly traced and fixed in the absolute latest .dll version.
You're correct I am running Windows 98. I was able to level from 1 to 2 without a problem but its going to LVL 3 that is giving me the problem. I downloaded the the patch but still crashing. Thankyou for the help:clap:
Apply the Co8 5.0.4 CMF to your installed game. Open the modules\ToEE folder and look for a file named Temple.DLL that should be located in that folder. Right-click overtop of it and click copy from the popup menu. Go to the parent game folder where the toee.exe file is located and paste a copy of the Temple.DLL file in that folder. Select the yes option to overwrite the existing file. Rebooting the computer is optional and is not required after copying-and-pasting the file. Although, you can reboot the computer for good measure to be thorough.
Hmmm. I am not satisfied the CMF has the fixed .dll. EDIT: Dammit, I can't even find it on the server. Gimme a few minutes to swap out to 98 and test the one I am using, then I will post it.
Ok, here is a .dll that should fix the problem. Get it from http://files.co8.org/mods/Win98TEST.rar and unzip into the Temple of Elemental Evil / modules / Co8 5.0.0 folder.
'kay, so I actually got around to downloading that file now, and... OH MY GOD IT ACTUALLY WORKS! I DON'T NEED TO MAKE RETARDED ROGUE MULTICLASSES ANYMORE! Thanks a bunch!
